Could we please try and cut down on some of these exchanges and bring these threads back on topic - alternatively move these conversations to 'General Insanity' or PM.

To my surprise, Miranda's episode of 'Final Chance to Save' turned up on the TEN HD channel in Adelaide at 3pm yesterday (so you can probably count the number of people who saw it on one hand....). Fortunately I was one of them - it was excellent, and the HD photography and quality was brilliant. My PC isn't up to a high enough standard to capture HD broadcasts, but I did get quite a few good screenshots. Theres around 35 that I have now uploaded to the website gallery. (unfortunately a few had to be shrunk to fit in with the hosting companies photo size limits but I'm pretty happy with them all) Enjoy !

Not sure if Miranda performed, or just attended the WSPA 'Stand up for animals' stage show last night (21st Jan). This was a charity show featuring a number of stand up comedians in aid of the WSPA (who Miranda has worked for previously). She didn't appear on the original performers list, but there are pictures of her starting to surface at the event (check out Getty).

I'm not sure when we will cut donations off - I thought a week originally, but don't want to make it too long after the actual birthday. The main reason for delaying is that a lot of magazines, newspapers and websites do features like 'On this day', or 'This week 50 years ago' etc, and celebrity birthdays. The website always gets a lot more hits a few days either side of Mirandas birthday, so the chances of donations are increased as it will be the first time a lot of people will be aware of it (I hope!). On my current thinking, Friday would be a good final day for donations, so you should be okay.

I have just posted a topic on Miranda's page at IMDB to hopefully get more people aware of the birthday present contribution. Unfortunately it doesn't appear in the main page, as it hasn't had enough recent posts. I'd appreciate if a few people could express their support by posting to the topic at the IMDB to lift if on to the main page. (any other suggestions for publicising the gift would be appreciated too - we're getting close to March 3rd!) PS The collection has almost reached £100 as of today

News Release
31 May 2007
Actress Miranda Richardson, who played roving reporter Rita Skeeter in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire travelled to Alaska this week to support the World Society for the Protection of Animals campaign to end whaling.
Reporting from the 59th annual International Whaling Commission (IWC) meeting, she said: “WSPA’s message is anti-cruelty whatever animal we’re talking about; in this case we’re talking about whales. Whales are highly sophisticated, social, extraordinary creatures that are in our seas. The methods that are used to kill these whales are archaic, barbaric and unacceptable in our time.”
Explaining her support for WSPA, she added: “My concern is this is an extremely delicate time and anything that we can do, beginning with banning commercial whaling, will hopefully help to ensure their future. Whaling is inexcusable and causes almost unimaginable agony.”

Thanks for the link to the IWC interview. I've now got in touch with a lovely lady at the WSPA who is going to send me some material from the conference that I can use on the site. And I'll be updating the site to include details of Mirandas links to WSPA. "Miranda has been a committed supporter of WSPA for more than ten years now, attending our events, giving interviews etc. ...."
There is also the news that Miranda is to go to Sri Lanka in December to learn more about one of the WSPA stray dog population control projects in Colombo.
This seems to be a very worthwhile contact to have made, and I'm pleased that I will be able to use the site to help promote one of Miranda's major charities and the work they do.

The last one can easily be put to rest - I remember getting queries about the article, as the daughter had a famous father - except it was the usual Richardson 'sisters' confustion - the mother in question was actually Joely, and the daughters name was Daisy. Never seen any evidence to the contrary that Miranda is childless - for whatever personal reasons.
