Oh, thanks for posting, guys! This was interesting info)) (on a side note, it is awful indeed to have to go somewhere and not be able to take your pets with you, I know...)

Thanks for the link to the IWC interview. I've now got in touch with a lovely lady at the WSPA who is going to send me some material from the conference that I can use on the site. And I'll be updating the site to include details of Mirandas links to WSPA. "Miranda has been a committed supporter of WSPA for more than ten years now, attending our events, giving interviews etc. ...."
There is also the news that Miranda is to go to Sri Lanka in December to learn more about one of the WSPA stray dog population control projects in Colombo.
This seems to be a very worthwhile contact to have made, and I'm pleased that I will be able to use the site to help promote one of Miranda's major charities and the work they do.

News Release
31 May 2007
Actress Miranda Richardson, who played roving reporter Rita Skeeter in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire travelled to Alaska this week to support the World Society for the Protection of Animals campaign to end whaling.
Reporting from the 59th annual International Whaling Commission (IWC) meeting, she said: “WSPA’s message is anti-cruelty whatever animal we’re talking about; in this case we’re talking about whales. Whales are highly sophisticated, social, extraordinary creatures that are in our seas. The methods that are used to kill these whales are archaic, barbaric and unacceptable in our time.”
Explaining her support for WSPA, she added: “My concern is this is an extremely delicate time and anything that we can do, beginning with banning commercial whaling, will hopefully help to ensure their future. Whaling is inexcusable and causes almost unimaginable agony.”

Aww she is amazing, and so write. Recently at uni I had to a presentation on ethics within Psychology.....it was really hard when discussing experiments on animals....people within research argue that its animals or us....its horrid...because they are a 'lower' species it gives experimentors the right to inflect pain on them Anyway....thank you for the brilliant links!!! x
