Hehe I find it remarkable - and perhaps the greatest tribute to her as an actress - that so many of us have not realised she's the same person in different roles. I've had friends say that to me - you have to name some of her roles before they understand who you are talking about.

By the way Beanie, great to see you back!! *Hugs* xxx

Heya there!! Well, my first was Merlin, which turned into an obsession my mum seemed to find alarming (she seriously asked me whether I BELIEVED in what I had seen in that movie. makes me wonder what she'd have said if I'd said yes ...) and was followed by Dance with A Stranger, in which I had great trouble finding out which character was her. I finally recognised her by her cheekbones, and that remained my "Miranda-sign" throughout St. Ives, Damage and Alice in Wonderland. after that, I had spent so much time on Clive's website, browsing through pictures (and translating the interviews, ( my English wouldn't be what it is today without that site, so Clive, if you read this, thanks for waking my interest in languages!!) that I pretty much knew how she would look. curiously though, my mum seemed to think that Miranda was wearing some kind of latex mask towards the end of Merlin (you know, that scene where she sais Mordred isn't eating enough). I always insisted she didn't. does anyone know?

Latex mask? I reckon it's just shiny glittery stuff...and she really doesn't move her face a lot does she?? But then she said she wanted that to be the case for Mab...she wanted the voice to seem to come from everywhere and nowhere...
*fangirl moment*
Beani yeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was just the large amount of glittery makeup on her face in that scene- she didn't move her face a lot, but that's the case throughout the whole film. It doesn't look like she's wearing a mask, anyway, so it was probably just the light reflecting oddly off the glitter.

Exactly what I think. stupid people like CZJ would have needed a latex mask for that, Miranda doesn't. she did such wonderful things with her face in Merlin. My favourite scene is the one where Frik tells her that Merlin doesn't like magic and you can literally see the smile dripping from her face. Pure genious!

Yeah, that scene was great. Her smile just absolutely plummeted!
Has anyone else noticed that, although she doesn't move her face very much in Merlin, she tilts her head around quite a lot when she looks at people... or is it just me seeing things....

no, rather like a bird of prey if you ask me. most of her movements were pretty sharp and aprupt, I suppose she wanted to underline the non-humanity of Mab.

Yes, I remember- in the book it says that she regarded Ambrosia, her head tilted to one side like a bird of prey- something like that. It's very effective, anyway.

Wow, there seem to be quite a few whose first was Merlin. a good way to get infected ...
and yes, the bird-stuff was really effective, made her look dangerous yet powerful (why yet? to be dangerous you need at least a certain amount of power *smacks head*)

Everyone should have to watch Merlin at least once, simply to see Mab.
Yeah, it was effective. Do you reckon Miranda just decided to do that, - I can't remember seeing it written in the script? I know it was in the book, but I'm pretty sure that was written after Merlin came out.
