how did you pop your cherry?! mine was Blackadder, but i wasn't aware of it really, as i was quite young. so really, my first was Merlin... my brother made me watch it with him cos he thought i'd like it! luckily i did and an obsession was born!  basically, i love witches and fairies etc, and her whole characterisation just stunned me! whenever she wasn't on screen i'd say 'when's Queen Mab coming back?'!!  was interested to know what everyone elses is, as i think it says a lot.... xxx |

My first movie was Merlin too, but I wathced film pretty late (a few years after it was released) and so I realized that I did already watch some films with Miranda before.
I like the things with witches and magic (see my nick;) )
too. And I´d love too have a black cat! *lol*

I think I already answered this in the 'getting to know you thread' when I said 'Dance with a Stranger'. I already knew, faintly, who Miranda was coz I had seen her in a few Blackadder episodes. I even rememnber the day, the channel, sorry but not the date! ok. I was about 12, and I was living in Norway at the time and for a week had seen an add for a film on a channel called 'CINECINEMA'. It was the clip from Dance with a Stranger where Ruth is watching Blakely test-driving his sports car. There was no dialogue in the few seconds that that clip lasted, which made me even more intrigued! All I saw was Miranda..which made me realise that i'd seen this actress before! But i didn't realise it until the enth repeated viewing of this clip. Then it struck me..It was queenie! So that was all I had on my mind until Saturday (-or was it Friday? ) I had to see queenie! Anyways, I watched it with my mother, not aware of the plot or anything. My mum became equally captivated by Miranda's acting strength and didn't know who she was until I popped the bubble and said..She's queenie from Blackadder..or something along those lines..and my mum went Nooo...well she was in disbelief, she recognises her now though  (I remember when we watched Tom and Viv for the first time, and the same thing happened!) Another thing..the sex scenes did not make me embarassed (remember I was with my mum!) so I gained a lot of respect for Miranda because of that aswell.. xxx |

Gosh I can't think. Firstly it probably would have been Blackadder obviously, and I seem to remember having a discussion with my parents about how all the other cast members were around at the moment and that my mother thought that Miranda hadn't done anything much since. I followed it up and found a whole list of films on IMDB and then noticed like the Oscar nods and the Golden Globe and BAFTA wins and suddenly realised she was probably the most successful of the lot of them. Anyway (kinda like the not recognising people situation) when I then told my rents some of the stuff she'd done, their reactions were "Oh yeah. Now I remember". Anyway so this intrigued me and I followed up on some of her stuff. I think Sleepy Hollow or Chicken Run might have been first after that.

I was introduced to the talent of Ms Richardson by Fran so she might have to help me out! i think it was Damage, am i right fran?

Isn't it weird how none of us knew it was Queenie?! i'm sure i've said this before but i watched the whole film of Sleepy Hollow waiting for 'Queen Mab' and only once she started being evil i thought 'oh is that her?'!!  Yeah, it was Damage darling i think-what an introduction!!  although technically i spose it was Blackadder's Xmas Carol cos we watched that the xmas just before. xxx |

Mine was Blackadder when I was about 8, thought queenie was very funny, then in the years inbetween that I suppose I never saw very much of her until I watched Sleepy Hollow and thought that she was fab in it. So I looked at the credits and found out her name and that she and queenie were one and the same and was shocked at how different she was. Cue obsession and having to buy rent and watch anything she is ever in. It was a couple years ago that I discovered Enchanted April and loved that soooooooooo much as my name might suggest ;D!

My first was technically Merlin. although i had seen Blackadder when i was v. small and hadn't really paid much attention. After Merlin, the next one was probably Sleepy Hollow, and i remember skipping right past Lady Van Tassel right up until the scene with her and Stienwick in the forest, and i thought 'OmG that IS her isnt it??' I was so glad. This began all the searching for every single film she's ever been in. Weird, these life-changing moments you don't even notice @ the time... God this sounds so funny reading all the posts... it sounds like we're all talking about losing our virginity or something... |
