Hey guys, thought I'd just add my little *squee* and say that it was good to meet you and sorry I rushed off! (I didn't get anywhere fast as I had to manouver around a table that Ben Whishaw was also manouvering around. Bizarre. But fun. Anyway, the play was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I thought it was perfectly cast, hilarious and also just...mesmerising... And I take you guys point that Miranda looked a little scared when we met her, but I really don't think she minded too much. I think she was just a little awkward about all the praise, and to be honest I can't blame her, we must have been a bit intimidating altogether! I am so happy I shook her hand though, even if I did scare her So anyway, I hope we meet again in this situation! xxx

queenofhearts87... I agree, the bit in the hotel room is heartbreaking. I remember seeing that film for the first time...it was just one big shock for me...what an amazingly powerful stroy. I love being able to watch things over and over and find new things...but I do envy people watching them for the first time...what a voyage of discovery...
I'm having yearnings towards watching The Scold's Bridle again now...shame it's such a horrible story cos I could easily watch Miranda in it every day. Just the whole premise is really nasty...don't get me wrong, I love Minette Walters books and Scold's is an excellent tv movie, I just don't want to get used to that kind of violence!

Just as a new discussion, I was wondering the last film of Miranda's everyone has watched? Be it for the first time or the sixteenth (i know we all do that!!) and any new thought anyone has on this film?
Last film I watched was Tom & Viv, for about the sixth time. I had been hard at work all day and needed Miranda to cheer me up so it was between Gideon's Daughter, Dance To The Music Of Time and Tom&Viv... and the latter won purely for timing reasons in the end!!
****SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN TOM & VIV*****
Anyway, I know this piece very well, mostly because my drama company did it, and also because I watch the film so often. Also saw a production of it in London last year with Frances O Connor as Viv.
New thoughts....Willem Dafoe is a GENIUS...I have to say that when I first watched it I wasn't keen on his performance really, but every time I watched it I understood him a little more. But now I find him kind of hypnotic, in the same way Miiranda is in it. They are very well suited to play opposite each other, I think, as they both have a kind of magical quality in their acting.
Favourite scene still remains the scene before the doctors come in to ask her the questions.
'We've had our marvellous times, haven't we Tom?' - this line just breaks my heart... The contrast of her calmness compared to his anguish is unbearable, especially as in the rest of the film it is the reverse.
Amazed still by Miranda's freeness, her strange and beautiful movement...
Was struck by the ending as I was when I first watched it... it really is painful, and especially painful that she is so unemotional when she says 'I haven't seen Tom in ten years'...and her unswerving devotion and trust in Tom, again, is utterly devastating.
Ok, I will stop there!

Well, just quickly, came to tell y'all about the premiere that me, Angie and Sarah went to yesterday...I'm sure I'll leave loads out and stuff so Ang can come and tell you too!! Anyway....it was very exciting... First sign of Miranda was when we were sitting in our seats in the cinema... Angie suddenly said 'that's her' and lo and behold, she was standing on the stairs with the rest of the cast! Arghhhh!! She looked beautiful...it was so weird looking at her from just across a room...she really had that glow that she has in pictures... Anyway, then Richard E Grant talked for a while, thanking loads of people (he's so sweet) and the cast stood around him (the cast that were there were Julie Walters, Miranda, Nicholas Hoult, Fenela Woolgar, Gabriel Byrne...was that it? Oh two younguns from the film too) I have to admit I was just transfixed by Miranda being so close the whole time...oh funny thing, he thanked Miranda twice!! She cackled! Then he said 'Oh, have I said Miranda Richardson? She was in it twice then' The film started then and they all went to the back to watch it (I'm sure I heard Miranda laugh at one point btw!!) The film...was amazing... It had so much charm and so much heart. I'll open another thread for reviews of the film in a minute. Anyway, afterwards Angie was watching Miranda and the others walk out and we literally ran (losing her a few times!) to see her (almost bumping into Julie Walters on the way...would have liked to have spoken to her but hey, I was was after Miranda ...oh also Anthony Head was just randomly standing at the top of the stairs...surreal...) Anyway...we caught up with her in the Foyer...and Angie said 'Excuse me...' and she turned around (omg dazzling beauty...glowiness, omg!) and Angie said 'We're really big fans of yours' and Miranda was still walking but she smiled really beautifully and said 'Ohhh, thank you' and then....she was gone!! Yes I stood there just smiling like an idiot not saying a word...thank god Angie spoke!! Still, I was so damn happy to be that close and to see her and she SMILED AT US!! I am in heaven forever. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I will agree with most of you that football is pointless and over hyped!
BUT as you say Mick, it does bring people together! The place where I live, Portsmouth in the UK probably breeds some of the most foul hooligans ever to have walked the earth, yet the night that England won and in the run-ups to games, said hooligans are walking around hugging complete strangers, waving to strangers...there's a really sweet sense of comaradery.
BUT (that's another 'but' in caps!) that's the only tiny weeny little good thing I can say for it.

I love Helen too! Yes she was playing Bellatrix. Charles II is amazing...what a cast...Rupert Graves, Rufus Sewell, Helen..... I've actually met Helen...she was with Damian Lewis when I went to meet him after a play he was in...she was ever so beautiful... Oh,tell me smth elseeeeeee!!PlEaSe=))))) Oh babe, I wish I had more to tell! I'm afraid at the time I was a little too entranced by Damian, and it was only a few months afterwards that I watched Charles II and found out she was fabulous! But I did say hi and she smiled with a smile that lit up her face. Just remember her being quite small and radiantly beautiful. *** Damn good points Mick btw! I thank God everyday i was born female!! xxx
