Just as a new discussion, I was wondering the last film of Miranda's everyone has watched? Be it for the first time or the sixteenth (i know we all do that!!) and any new thought anyone has on this film?
Last film I watched was Tom & Viv, for about the sixth time. I had been hard at work all day and needed Miranda to cheer me up so it was between Gideon's Daughter, Dance To The Music Of Time and Tom&Viv... and the latter won purely for timing reasons in the end!!
****SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN TOM & VIV*****
Anyway, I know this piece very well, mostly because my drama company did it, and also because I watch the film so often. Also saw a production of it in London last year with Frances O Connor as Viv.
New thoughts....Willem Dafoe is a GENIUS...I have to say that when I first watched it I wasn't keen on his performance really, but every time I watched it I understood him a little more. But now I find him kind of hypnotic, in the same way Miiranda is in it. They are very well suited to play opposite each other, I think, as they both have a kind of magical quality in their acting.
Favourite scene still remains the scene before the doctors come in to ask her the questions.
'We've had our marvellous times, haven't we Tom?' - this line just breaks my heart... The contrast of her calmness compared to his anguish is unbearable, especially as in the rest of the film it is the reverse.
Amazed still by Miranda's freeness, her strange and beautiful movement...
Was struck by the ending as I was when I first watched it... it really is painful, and especially painful that she is so unemotional when she says 'I haven't seen Tom in ten years'...and her unswerving devotion and trust in Tom, again, is utterly devastating.
Ok, I will stop there!

ooooooh I saw Tom & Viv last year and loved the way Miranda and Willem supported each other in their roles (if that makes sense)! they were just really well suited to these roles. ****ANOTHER TOM & VIV SPOILER!!!!**** I thought the most powerful part (for me, anyway) was on their honeymoon when Viv was cleaning away the sheets and was just so 'ashamed' I guess, of what had happened. I mean, what kind of a husband just leaves his wife and goes to work after that happens? poor thing. I just wanted to give her a cuddle! I also thought the scene where they were at the gathering with all the other writers and all that (where they were doing musical chairs or whatever) was good, because Miranda just had this realistic glint of anger in her eyes (when she gave Willem/Tom the right answer and he gave her daggers for being smarter than him), and I think it's just the simple things, like a smile or an expression, that can really show off someone's talent. Know what I mean? ;D****END OF SPOILER**** ;D Okay, the last movie I watched was Wah-Wah (last week). I was actually annoyed that Miranda wasn't in more of the scenes!! I enjoyed the film more when I realised it was autobiographical, because it just seemed like another movie about broken families. I only got to see it once though, coz it was a new release, and my DVD player broke down before I could watch it again! Noooo! Very upset. Oh well, I'll just rent it again. The movie I'm trying to get ahold of now, is Falling Angels. Has anyone seen it? My stupid video shop doesn't have it. Oh well, next on my list is The Crying Game. yay! good idea for a thread, by the way! ;D

I think the other day, maybe 3 days ago or so, Get Carter was on. It was my second time seeing it, but I actually didn't see the whole thing, just the last half hour or so. The first time I saw it I watched the whole thing, of course. Actually the first time I tried to watch it was when it was on at 4 in the morning and I stayed up to watch it and about 20 minutes into it my brother woke up after napping for hours and came downstairs and kicked me out. So, I stayed up to watch it, and never got to...I was pissed. Not a big deal though because I think the movie sucks lol. I'm not sure why she did it, to be near Stallone? lol Wah-Wah has been on pay per view recently and still is, but I don't want to spend my mother's money on something that you can only watch once. I like Tom and Viv. Every time I see the ending I cry lol. I hate how he never visited her. I always wondered if she (Miranda, that is) found it fun to destroy the hotel room lol. How often can you make a mess like that without having to clean it up or live with it? I think someone should have released her when she started to get better. Of course, I don't know all the facts, but it seems she was alright to be free.

Well, the last Miranda film I watched was part of "Merlin", whilst eating lunch a couple of days ago. Mum kicked me off the TV afterwards- probably a good thing, as I'm in the middle of exams and revision be neccessary. The last film I watched all the way through was probably either "The Hours" or "Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire".
Pact to self: If I pass all my exams, I must buy Sleepy Hollow.

The last Miranda movie I watched was Sleepy Hollow. We made a movie nigh on New Year's Eve (which some people might consider a bit sad), and after watching some stupid comedian's show, I made everybody watch SH. They didn't particularly like it (I almost killed them) but all agreed that Miranda was amazing (which is the reason they're still alive).

The last one I watched in full was Wah Wah. I really enjoyed it. I watched parts of POTO the other day, probably the bits that Miranda was in, cos that's the only parts of that film I really watch.

The last one I watched was The Prince & Me, it was on TV. I was harshly reminded of lack of Miranda throughout most of the movie haha, but I enjoyed it. It's not really my kind of movie and its a bit of a cliche but enjoyable none the less. =]

queenofhearts87... I agree, the bit in the hotel room is heartbreaking. I remember seeing that film for the first time...it was just one big shock for me...what an amazingly powerful stroy. I love being able to watch things over and over and find new things...but I do envy people watching them for the first time...what a voyage of discovery...
I'm having yearnings towards watching The Scold's Bridle again now...shame it's such a horrible story cos I could easily watch Miranda in it every day. Just the whole premise is really nasty...don't get me wrong, I love Minette Walters books and Scold's is an excellent tv movie, I just don't want to get used to that kind of violence!
