I absolutely love the Harry Potter films, i prefer the second one to the first (not just because of Jason Isaacs !). The first one stuck almost exactly to the book and although that's good in one sense, because i'd hate to see them changed dramatically;the books are masterpieces afterall, but i thought the second one got a great medium between staying faithful to what JK Rowling wrote and trying a few different things. Also, i do have to admit that the new cast additions in the second one helped a lot! Jason Isaacs obviously; me and Fran were reading articles with him and we love the way that he tries to find things in every character to make them real. He was perfect as Mr Malfoy ( ) and didn't turn it into an evil caricature as it would have been so easy to do. And Kenneth Branagh was fantastic, so funny! Can't wait for the third one, although disappointed that Mr Malfoy doesn't appear... xx

Yeah i did think Kenneth Branagh was great and Jason obv (hes amazing) but they weren't enough to turn the fulm around for me... ok ok, claim 2 fame time... my dad was used to be an actor and he was in the same theatre company as Kenneth Branagh!! I think they performed together quite a few times That's about my only claim 2 fame so i'm proud of it

I am really indifferent towards the HP films - the first one I thought was absolutely s***e, while the second was marginally better as a film. However, when compared to the books, they are dragging their asses. I think the change of director may be interesting - I mean for f***s sake, they have the cream of GB acting talent in the film, and it still doesn't work (mainly IMO due to Daniel whatsisface and Ron Weasley boy) so maybe that is down to the director maybe.

Yeah i'm pretty much agreeing with u, Bean. But, being such an obsessive of the books when i was younger, i was very angry about the way they handled the films. I really really hope that the new director improves them. It just goes to show that even with the best actors in a cast, i might not necessarily work, it has to be just 'right' This is my theory...

I loved the books as well but think the films r pretty awful, yeh perhaps the new director will help out and I totally agree about the child actors they just annoy me which isnt that good a start seeing as they r the main stars

Yeah they're all so fake and unbelievable. Ron wasn't too bad, but Hermione was pretty awful and Daniel Radcliffe, well the less said about him the better... he had about 2 different facial xpressions in the whole thing. oooh i'm so nasty

oh no!!!!!!! i actually liked Hermione....i know that she majorly puts the wrong internations in her words but i rather like her style. and.....ok, you'll all laugh but i think when Daniel Radcliffe gets a bit older he'll be quite a fox! i can see they are not the greatest actors in the world, but i think they have a lot of charm... my, rather sad , opinion! the only one i dislike is Ron!! he just annoys me. xxxxxxx

I agree with you on the Hermione debate - she is without a doubt the best child actor in the films. I think she has a good sense of comic timing, and she will be stunning when she grows up.
Interesting news that she was auditioning for the role of Susan in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I think she would have excelled in that. What about you lot?

ooh, a Shakespeare course in Stratford-sounds lovely-what's it like? i think she would have been a great Susan-as i said on the Narnia board, i think she is the only one of the three who i could see breaking out of the 'Hermione' mould. shame she's a cow....i guess if you're that big and that young, it's easy to be xxx

True, true.
The course was pretty good. We did MacBeth, but i was slightly disappointed that we didn't do more of the character of Lady MacBeth, in my opinion she's the most fascinating part in the play.

Bit late arriving here, as usual (!), but i reeeeally like Hermione, i love her speaking voice and i think she's a really good actress. I can still see her little face where she cries about being called a mud-blood while talking to Hagrid.
