Really?? They weren't paid?? Well, good for them. I've said this b4 somewhere, but i'll bet that if the pay packet for LWW isn't in the billions, CZJ won't be in the least bit interested. The thing that gets me going is the greed of people like that Yeah and i think that's the perfect way of explaining it. It's kinda something i can relate to as well, me being usually classed as the 'erm... weirdo' and all xxx

Nicole Kidman I don't believe to be in quite the same bracket - I mean she did Dogville which can't have paid her much at all.

Miranda and Ralph (and probably Lynn and Gabriel) said they so wanted the film to be made that they said they'd do a profit share, and so far there are no profits to be shared!! i just think that's fantastic-to so want something to be shown to the world and to give all that time and energy.....true actors. ;D take the point about Nicole, but to me that choice of role kind of made me think....'angling for an oscar and the praise for doing a small budget film where she looks less than perfect..' poor woman, i'm probably doing her a huge injustice! but the fact that Miranda hasn't bruted it abroad about the pay situation on 'spider' says it all. and, yeah, as i was saying in the 'recommending films' thread-weirdos succeed! xxx

Yeah, i'd have to agree with that, i also think that she wouldn't have done it if she hadn't recently done quite a few films that have raised her 'fame' profile a bit higher. Might be a COMPLETELY wrong and unjust thing to say, but that's how i view it. When i think of her i always think of her as Nicole Kidman 'the popular star' rather than 'the actress', it's so completely different with people like Miranda. xxx

Yeah, i mean they're the ones who are interesting, the ones who you can learn from and the ones who explore new depths. I think i'd rather not be an actress at all than be some shallow surface performer who's in the 'popular group'

Aaaw I quite like Nicole, musical loving me thought Moulin Rouge was sooo much fun and she did a film years and years ago called To Die For which was a gr8 black comedy. I know she is a big star and a millionare but I have a real soft spot 4 her. Dont get me wrong I know that never in a million years would Nicole do a film for no pay like our darling Miranda would but I think Nicole is a good actress (Cold Mountain is superb) and think she is quite a nice person as well. I know lots of u disagree but this is just my opinion x

Yeah fair enough. I don't mind her, but it's not like i would buy something purely because she's in it (like i would do for a Miranda film) hehe ;D
btw, thought i should say this quickly... i was just onthis bbc site and they were talking about Miranda up for Prof. Trelawney in upcoming Harry Potters!! Doubt it, but she was mentioned as a possibility...

Oh, Nicole is alright (this is prob not really how i feel cos i just read the lovely thing about her on 'the hours' dvd!) i liked her in Birthday Girl and Practical Magic. i think i don't like the fact that she she is SO big a star and an oscar winner, when there are more worthwhile actors around... i mean, the scene with her and Miranda was a bit farcical! but, yes, there are hundreds of worse actresses, she's not in the same league as CZJ! as for Professor Trelawny i thought Emma Thompson was already cast?! xxx

I agree, really like her in Birthday Girl, can't rememeber Practical Magic that well, but i think i liked her at the time (about 6 years ago!)-loved the film.
I do like her in Moulin Rouge, but i think a lot of other actresses could have done it better. I think she has a lovely singing voice, but i think she could have done a lot more with her acting. In my opinion Ewan McGregor walks all over her, his performance is amazing, especially the emotional bits...heartbreaking. Absolutely love the film.
I'll have to go and read about Nicole being lovely on the other thread!

I thought filming had wrapped on the Prisoner of Azkhaban?? Certainly Emma Thompson is playing Professor Trelawney, and the release date is scheduled for June I believe. This film will be interesting, being directed by Alfonso Cuaron and being much darker than the others. Am still not happy about Gary Oldman being Sirius Black, because I had a completely different image in my head. He's a great actor, but Sirius to me, should be gorgeous, a rough kind like Sean Bean or Viggo Mortensen.
Still I would like to see Miranda as Rita Skeeter.

Yeh though Im actually not very keen on the Harry Potter films, Im sure Miranda would lift them so much even in a small part.

As i've said before, i think the HP films were one of the biggest disappointments in film history, but that's maybe just me...
Yeah i definitely saw Sirius as different from who they've cast, but i suppose you can't please everyone. I do hope it'll be better than the other two
