*looks guilty* God, I'm hogging this section. Ah, well.
I wrote this a couple of days ago, and it's supposed to be a continuing series. Anything you'd like to see in it, tell me! I'll work on getting it in.
*Chapter 1: Prolouge/The Light Ages*
The girl who sprinted down the stairs was not who you would expect to be a descendant of the legendary Queen Mab. She had long blond hair and light ice-blue eyes. She was wearing a black jacket and a black baggy shirt, and blue jeans. Biker boots clad her feet. She wore no makeup, although some black eyeliner was stashed in her black purse.
“Bye, mom!” she called.
“Bye, sweetheart! Be careful out there!” her mother shouted from the kitchen.
“We will!” she hollered, and was out of the house. She smiled when she saw her friend’s car, with four people already in it.
“Hey Lore!” shouted the girl who was driving. She was all big brown eyes and black hair. “Hurry up!”
“Coming, Jackie!”
Lore opened the passenger’s side door and swung into the car, taking off her jacket and opening her purse. She applied the eyeliner liberally, and added black mascara as well, then turned to the back of the car.
“Hey, Ali,” said Lore to her friend Alison. “You want my jacket?”
Alison, who was shivering in her sheer top and metallic jeans, nodded.
Lore tossed it at her, and smiled at the boy sitting on the left of Alison—Marco. He grinned at her.
“Good to see that the lovebirds are awake today,” commented the other boy sarcastically.
“Shut up, Sawyer,” said Jackie.
Marco rolled his green eyes. His long blond hair—the same length as Lore’s—was pulled into a pony-tail.
Lore shook her head, and pulled her own hair back. “Okay, Jackie,” she said. “Let’s go.”
The five friends drove together towards the pizza place and arcade. It was Friday night, and they were just going out to have some fun. All five were 17, and on their summer break from high school. It was their last summer together before going off to college.
Lore reached up and turned on some music—the CD in the player was Oceanborn, by Nightwish.
“Turn it to Passion and the Opera?” asked Ali.
Lore did as asked, and they were all dancing to it as much as possible in the car when they arrived.
They went inside, ordered their food, and ate. Lore sat with Marco, while Alison, Jackie and Sawyer all shared a bench. They laughed and talked through the meal.
What none of them knew was that they all felt such strong bonds with each other because they all had the bloodlines of the era of Camelot within them. Strong bloodlines. Lore was the descendent of Queen Mab (as afore mentioned), and that was where she got her leadership qualities and character strengths, as well as her fiery temper. Sawyer was the descendant of Uther; he was sarcastic and sadistic as hell and he and Lore got into fights occasionally. Alison had the blood of the Lord Idath in her veins—the lord of Death and Winter. She could be cold and calculating at times, but the best part of winter was the feeling of warmth it could bring when you got to know it and inhabit it. Alison was like that. Marco was the descendant of the King Vortigern, and he was Lore’s champion just as Vortigern had been Mab’s all those years ago. Jackie was the descendant of the Ardente clan—the clan that had betrayed Vortigern. Luckily, that blood had been diluted, so she was as loyal as any other, but she did occasionally feel the call to turn on Marco when least expected, as he did to her.
Little did they know that that soon they would be thrust back into the times of their forefathers—into the time of Mab, Idath, Uther, Vortigern, and Lord Ardente. Each of the bloodlines would have not one champion but two. And the battles would play out much, much differently.
(I'm also toying with changing Lord Ardente to Nimue, but that might make Jackie and Lore related...so...I'm not sure)
