Oh, yes, I noticed that too. First she touches her old pointe shoes then her fingers just graze that little pile of notes just sitting on the vanity. I've always wondered....are those old notes from Erik? It would make sense seeing as she is touching them at that particular moment, just as she goes into the tale of the past.

I can respect the G/E people, but I've never seen it that way myself.
But that's probably because I wrote a fanfic in which I invented a husband for Madame Giry who died. And that's why she always wears black and seems sad. Her relationship with Erik is sisterly....of course I detest that fic now and it's buried somewhere among the piles of looseleaf in my room, but I still see her that way.
*hides under the desk* Don't kill me!

I saw the movie a million times too but I never notice... Ehehehe now I have a good excuse to see it again!! In my opinion, Madame Giry was married or had a lover who is Meg's father and after that she fell in love with Christine's father and took care of him during his disease. After his dead she became a mother to Christine and brought her to live in the Opera House. But I also like the Phantom teory. After all, she was the only person who contacts and help him, so would be probable to him fell in love with her!

I can understand where both of you are coming from with that. My view, though, is that Erik and Madame had a romantic relationship going on when they were younger. Then she got pregnant, and in order to protect him because if the truth came out he would get caught, she lied and told everyone that it was the child of an old friend of hers whom she had been seeing. So she married him and distanced herself from Erik. Then her husband dies and she returns to the Opera Populaire to teach but there is nothing left of their former love. She still assists him but their former closeness is gone. Then Christine comes into the picture and we have the movie plot!

You've probably given this more thought than I have. I just never really saw them that way. But I can definitely see why there are so many G/E devotees.

I quite like to read G/E, but I prefer to write the pairing in a more friendship sort of way, friendship that has lasted do long that words are not necessary anmore.

I like the friendship aspect as well, even though I'm compltely obsessed with the pairing. I've read most of your stories on the subject on fanfiction.net. You're very, VERY good.

yeah I do like the pairing *nods* but it seems my twisted muse is somewhat against it being in the fluffy aspect...

Yes...he is COMPLETELY against the fluffy aspect...*glares daggers at your muse* I'm still mad at him for the ending of Learning to Live! And the offer to put him through Fluffy Boot Camp still stands!

Nope. Not ever. I mean, I like E/G-angst as much as the next person, but he went too far. WAY too far. *hugs Ann protectively*Besides, I'm way too partial to Madame in general.

*is confused*
Anyone read Leggy's "The Empty Cage"? Now THAT is some angsty G/E, really really dark. I must say I like dark, angsty phantom, and dark, angsty fics in general because the people who bother to write it usually give the characters and storylines more thought than the fluff-people.
