there was something about charlotte church in the "Secret Chamberpot of Azerbaijan" ...
God, I suppose my parents would kill me if I bought yet ANOTHER version of Merlin ... I have it twice on tape, though one version is not complete, and once on DVD cos I wanted to hear the original Mab-voice.

Hmmm, I don't have it quite that many times LOL. My mum always says there's no point in buying another copy of something you already have just for the special features, but then, my mum does not understand the glory that is "Merlin". I have an old copy on video that my lovely grandparents recorded for me the first time Merlin aired in the UK on the offchance that I would like it (I was so happy when I found out, I hadn't thought to record it), but I watched it so much, the quality of the tape wore out, and it was recorded on long-play, so when our family had to replace our long-player video player I couldn't watch it for ages. Then I got the DVD. I kept the old copy though, cause its fun to watch it on normal play and hear Sam Neill talking like a character out of Alvin and the chipmunks. I have mental humour...

*grabs oxford's advanced learner's dictionary*
binary = using only 0 and 1 as a system of numbers; based on only two numbers, consisting of two parts. "The computer performs calculations in binary and converts the results to demical."
ouch! okay...

Nope, it's definitely shrunk. Ah well, we will just have to post lots and lots to make it bigger again. BTW (This is not strictly related to Miranda, but whilst I am in the Mab thread, I thought I'd mention it)- I was looking through my Buffy book collection (which is certainly large- it takes up nearly an entire shelf, so obsessed was I. I don't even want to think how much money I must have spent Ah, if only someone would write so many Merlin books... but I digress). Anyway, I hadn't looked at them in months, so I was glancing through them, and I came to a book called "Little Things", opened it, and I saw the name "Queen Mab". I nearly fell off the bed in excitement. Sadly it was not the Mab we know and love, this Mab was the leader of a troop of Italian vampire-fairies ( !!!), but it was still cool to see.

I think this thread shrunk because Cara, who opened it, deleted her account. she had written a huge post about the role of mab and nature and stuff in "Merlin". pity it's gone.

Oh, yeah, I remember seeing something like that on here. Didn't she post an essay at the very start of the thread about Mab's role in Merlin? I think I found the original essay online. Here, have the link. www.geocities.com/ghostlly/Mab/merlin.htmlThere's also a "Mab-meditation" exercise somewhere on the site, which I printed off some time ago. I haven't tried it out, meditating is not something I am good at, but here's the link to that, too. www.geocities.com/ghostlly/Mab/meditation.html

yep, that's the essay, and I still think it's magnificent. the meditation-thingy starts very well, but the end is rather crappy if I may say so. it's becoming too detailed. when I write something, I prefer to leave details like clothing or hairstyles to the imagination of the reader cos they're not really important to the story-line. if I write a sentence like "she was wearing a breathtaking black robe covered in sparkling diamonds that reflected the light of the moon in a neverending dance" it's not important what the sleeve look like or whether the dress is ornamented. it's important that the character looks beautiful, and the sparkling diamonds make her look unwordly and fairy-like (yup, the sentence described Mab). but I do love to describe faces or rather the expressions on them. a twitching mouth can say so much about a character! he (or she) might be angry or trying to hide amusement or ... well, there are certain occasions where detail is quite appropriate, but also there are others where this is not the case. sorry for the rant!
