You lucky people. I've never been out of the country. I've been too many of the states, but never abroad. But I've planned on majoring in journalism in college and getting an internship in London if possible.
Anywhoo...I'm a newbie here as well. I suppose my favourite Miranda film is Tom & Viv (obviously), closely followed by St Ives, Merlin, and The Hours...but it's so hard to choose. I'm fourteen and when I'm not watching Miranda movies I ride horses and fence. [The sword-fighting thing. Not at all related to fences...contrary to common belief...]

Once again welcome! what kind of horseriding do you do? from the look of the saddle on the photo you posted I'd say showjumping, but one never knows. even my totally dressage-ridden horse has occasionally been seen with a jumping-saddle ...

Fencing sounds incredibly cool and fun.
If you get to go to London, Vivie, then you will have seen my country's capital before me! I've seen Cardiff (capital of Wales) and Berlin, but never London, sadly. But yes, come to Britain. We rock. Except for most of our music. It's crap. Buy Finnish stuff... Yes... *trails off into insanity*

Very close, Incap. I do hunter jumper and equitation. I love fencing. Stabbing people without actually killing them is a very good way to vent. Yes, Britain does rock. I'm bored out of my skull with America.

Like Tae Kwon-do- kicking people without severely injuring them is a very therapeutic pasttime.

so where is the difference between hunter jumping and show-jumping? is it "out in the wild" or what? I do that once every autumn, when our whole riding club is hunting the "fox" (ok, a tail that is sewn to someone's shoulder). and what the heck is fencing?

No, it's not that type of hunting. Truthfully, I don't even know why it's called hunter. It's basically just show jumping, except that it's not timed, which show jumping is. Fencing is kind of like sword-fighting, but it's an organized sport with rules and the weapons aren't actually sharp or lethal or anything.. I'm sorry, I can't describe anything, my brain is dead right now. Here's a picture. (Note: that's not me, it's just a random google picture.)

ok, got it..
we have that kind of non-timed jumping as well, it's called "style-jumping", where you get a mark for your style (obviously).

Out of interest, how long have you been fencing for?

Just since September. I'm a freshman in high school, and it's my school's team that I fence with.

Coolness. Wish our college did cool sports like that. I might get involved with it then. Until such a time, I avoid college sports as I would avoid a contagious disease.

This is the first time I've ever done a school sport. I hate sports like soccer and volleyball and such.

evil school sports. some evil demon made me choose fitness instead of some cool stuff like rythmic gymnastics, where, on school level, I might have had a glimmer of a chance ...
