I feel so silly watching this for Nicole Kidman when I was 11. Miranda could've won an oscar without the fake nose!

I didn't even want to watch it the first time! My mum FORCED me, she now hates it (because she's homophobic) and I LOVE it hahaha

I've watched it three times: the first time for Miranda about three/four years ago, the second for Meryl Streep maybe about two years ago, and then the third a few months ago because we were reading several pieces by Virginia Woolf and I wanted to pay more attention to that portion of the movie.
I think it's a good film, if a little confusing, but it's not one I want to constantly watch over and over again.
I do agree, though, that it's a shame Miranda didn't get to be in it more, but she was, of course, fantastic in the few scenes she was in.

It's a pretty good film and I did enjoy watching it! I just wish there was more Miranda in it!! I'm quite sure she was interested in the role of Virginia and was a little peeved she didn't get it. I can't remember where I read that though...

I wanted lead tole, says Miranda
Film and TV star Miranda Richardson today revealed her frustration at not landing a lead role in her latest movie.
The actress appears in The Hours – which tells the story of three women profoundly affected by the writings of Virginia Woolf – but has only a supporting role opposite Hollywood celebrities Nicole Kidman and Meryl Streep.
Richardson played murderer Ruth Ellis in the film Dance with a Stranger and Queenie in the comedy series Blackadder. The new movie opens in the UK early next year.
Speaking in the Sunday Telegraph magazine, Richardson said: “It would have been nice to have been approached, at least, for one of the leads.
“I didn’t manage to feel settled on that set, really. I told (director) Stephen (Daldry) how frustrated I was by that.”
She also criticised the lack of good roles for actresses, and said: “It is something that affects me, yes, certainly.
“That’s why, though I don’t want to make a habit of it, I’m more likely to take a smaller role, as long as it is incredibly high quality and the rest of the actors are good.”
In the coming weeks, the actress will also be starring in the David Cronenberg-directed film Spider about murder, paranoia and memory.

Cheers, Ali. It's similar to the one where she said Meryl Streep was nabbing all the decent parts haha & thanks queen09

I love this movie!!! Beside Miranda I like especially the story of Julianne Moore. And my favourite actress at the moment has also a part in it. Eileen Atkins -> the woman in the flower shop. But she has only one scene!!!!!

I've watched it about 10 times now. First time in the cinema, I really only wanted to see someting not blockbuster-ish...and I LOVED LOVED LOVED it. Now I watch it every once in a while, plus all the extras And I agree, Miranda could have won that oscar without the nose. Although Kidman WAS good as well, I have to admit.

Miranda would have been marvelous in the lead!!! I do wish they would have approached her for it!! There are a few pics from The Hours premiere that have always bothered me. It looks as though Miranda and Nicole are distant. They really don't seem like they wanted to hold hands in the 2nd pic. They are both looking in completely different directions and Miranda looks like she is talking to someone else. Maybe they thought they should because they played sisters in the film. I don't know.

I don't know, if you watch the behind the scenes feature on the DVD she kisses Nicole on the top of the head and it seems like they get on ok. Thanks for posting the pics though

Ok, maybe I am just taking this over board and over analysing things. I tend to do that with Miranda!!! I want to know exactly what she is thinking, so I make it up!!! I am so sad!!
