I wonder how Miranda got the role. I love her as Madame Giry too. ;D First I watched it in the cinema then I bought the book and soundtrack. The book is more interesting. Especially when there was more of Madame Giry. I've watched it a few times on dvd. Then I saw the real musical. Andrew Lloyd Webber is a genius! ;D

What's the question? You might want to make your topic a little more obvious if you want to get people talking.

Yes, I liked it. Yes, I liked Miranda in it. No, she didn't have enough lines, though her screen-time was close to satisfying.
Incidentally, this movie was the first where I started shipping while still in the theatre.

I ADORE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is my all time favorite movie in all the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is the movie where I fell in love with Miranda!!!!!!!!! I love how elegant Madame Giry is! She is gorgeous!!! I love characters where there is mystery behind them and unanswered questions!! I truly believe Madame Giry loved the Phantom!!!!!! I love them together!!!!!!! The book was good, though a little hard to follow! I giggle everytime Madame Giry came in the room!!!! They describe her as having an elegance that cannot be hidden!! Oh my gosh, I just love this movie so much!!!! I know all the songs and have the soundtrack!! It is just amazing!!!!!!!!! I need to watch it again, haven't watched it in awhile! So there is my Phantom of the Opera rant!!!!!!!! Totally amazing movie!! Must watch!!!

I love the Phantom of the Opera!!! It was the first movie where I first discovered how amazingly brilliant Miranda is! I fell in love with the film right away, and Madame Giry was my favourite from the begining. Walking out of the theatre I was like: MUST SEE AGAIN!!!! I love how deep and mysterious the movie is, and the sets and costumes were outstanding! I bought it the day it came out on dvd. I bought the soundtrack a little while later though, but I still listen to the songs a lot. I love the instrumental music, the voices and lyrics are good, but the music brings it all together and gives it that certain feel. I love it so much! Andrew Lloyd Webber is amazing!
One time I was at my neighbor's for tea and I thought I could hear the music from one of the songs, but then I couldn't anymore. Then I heard it again and I thought I was going mad. A while later the hostess asked me if I new who composed the cd, and I'm like YES!!!!! It was The Best of Andrew Lloyd Webber or something like that, I can't exactly remember.

I haven't seen this yet - but my firend has just given me the dvd of it. Someone I used to work with helped on this film - his grandfather was the producer.

I go crazy when I listen to the soundtrack and it comes to Masquerade and there is the one line you can hear Miranda singing!!! I wish she would sing in other movies! I love her voice in this movie! I had never really heard of this movie until my 7th grade music teacher showed it to us. I loved it so much!! I had the songs in my head for a few months and then I told my mom that we have to rent this movie! She fell in love with it when she saw it too!! It is such an amazing movie!! I love Madame Giry so much!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure if that was actually Miranda singing during the Masquerade? I think I remember hearing somewhere that that wasn't her voice?
I know she can sing, I'm just not sure if that was her voice they used.

I absolutely love PotO. It's probably my favorite musical of all time disregarding any particular cast as far as the stage show is concerned (I've seen it three times one: once on tour, two times on Broadway *squees*). The movie was my first taste of it, as well as my introduction to Miranda, so it will always have a special place in my heart, even though I must admit to preferring the stage show now (well, minus the fact that I have to deal with actresses other than Miranda playing Mme Giry).

I completely understand and echo your sentiments. I fear I'm a bit Girik obsessed myself. (Not that you couldn't have guessed as much from my avatar and signature. lol.) How many other Girik fans do we have around here, out of curiosity?

Uh, me!!! Girik is one of my ultimate OTPs. I've said this before, but I'll say it again, I am utterly and completely convinced that Erik is Meg's daddy. Mmmhmm, oh yeah. Well, at least in the movie. In the stage show, though? I'm not sure I'd go that far. *clears throat* Anyway. I'm not nearly as obsessed with the pairing as I used to be, it used to be all I wrote as far as fanfics are concerned etc, but I still love them together.
