OH MY GOD! I know. Merlin is GAH! I feel very strongly on this subject--don't mind me. *goes back to writing essay on why Merlin sucks, ignoring the questioning looks from classmates because of muttered, "Gonna kill Merlin..."*

Ah! The joys of Merlin bashing. Which reminds me...
Would you like to purchase a custom built Merlin-bashing hammer? *money signs in eyes*

Heheh, concerned class-mates is an unfortunate but inevitable side affect of true devotion to Merlin! Now about that Merlin bashing hammer... do you also supply Medieval chainsaws...? Not a Merlin-fan, I'm afraid.

Well, I fear many of us are angry at Merlin for his making Mab disappear and all... Merlin stays well away from the board these days, ever since we set the portable angry mobs on him...
And yes, Medieval chainsaws are a distinct possibility.

What? There are no pro-Merlin-enthusiasts to argue with? Damn, I forgot this was a Miranda Richardson website; there wouldn't be... *sob* Ah well, will have to make do with the chainsaws and the angry mobs... or even better, the angry mobs with chainsaws.

Might I just randomly throw in how much I love that there are new members on here who actually post? The board has been dead for too long. You guys rock!
And, Tosca, I love your siggy!! (my teacher mercilessly bashed that scene from Romeo and Juliet as "unnessecary, rambling and far too long". much as I like that woman, I will seriously consider whether or not to forgive her).

You love it now... after a few days of incessant Merlin chatter from yours truly you may have changed your mind! ;D omg, that was the best piece ole Wil ever wrote! [If, as is the source of constant debate, he did write it!] I'm glad I'm not part of your English class... it'd be ooh too tempting to bring pointy impliments to school. Although, the poem does get quite nasty. ^^ Thankies for the MSN add Incapability! *GLOMP*

Indeed! Merlin bashing is a fun, healthy hobby- I wonder if Sam Neill has ever wandered into this forum, LOL! He'd be terrified for his life!
Yes, new members who post should be applauded and commended, and given a chocolate cyber-biscuit.

Oh, Merlin chatter never gets too much. Not eva. And having you in my English class would have been so much fun. It's mainly: Teacher "Did you guys have problems understanding it?" most of the class:"yesss!!!" me: *hits head on table* "why did you choose Advanced English then?" So not that much in-depth discussions, I fear. But it was actually fun. My teacher has a great sense of humour, and it's always fun to listen to her Hugh-Grant bashing ("I'm not that fond of Leonardo DiCaprio either, but at least he can somewhat act!")
So, have a cookie and post away!

Merlin chatter is a thing of greatness. It never gets tiring. That's something my RL friends have yet to understand. But understand they will...

Well I would have believed too that he didn't have any choice except he defied Mab easily when she killed Morgan and he's always trying to interject his opinion or give advice. *rolles eyes* lol So its seems frik has always been able to think or act for himself whether he decides to or not. So when her dog started being disobedient to her Mab didn't want him anymore and cast him away. Dogs shouldn't insult their masters. {jking }

I wish! - my dog insults me all the time, bless her. About the Frik thing... at the beginning of the film, and apart from occasionally moaning to Merlin about Mab's lack of appreciation, he seems OK with his job. He's even enthusiastic for Mab to punish Ambrosia when she speaks disrespectfully to her at Merlin's birth. Maybe he was just an especially useful gnome who got promoted [there to seem to be a lot scurrying about doing her work], and grew so used to his subservience that it never occured to him to leave. On the subject of dogs, they used to do experiments on them to test learned helplessness: they would chain the dog up and administer electrical shocks for an extended period of time, and eventually, when they unchained the dog and continued to electrocute it, it simply stayed where it was because it had given up on the hopes of freedom. Thankfully, it's way too unethical to be practiced now, but it's one of a multitude of theories to explain Frik's logic. That said, we're assuming Frik has logic to speak of.
