My story based on Fatherland, the start is at a point in the film. But made it by own and the rest is all my own story. So I hope you enjoy it. I worked hard on it. *Hugs*
It was early evening and Charlie was sat on a bench looking through a large file of papers. She shuffled through them and suddenly her eyes glinted with sadness at the sight before her.
Pictures of millions of Jews killed. /This can't be true, it can't/ she thought. She stared at them again and then wiped her eyes with the sleeve of her dark coat.
Xavier who was a man dressed in dark uniform with a hat and long coat stared at her. "What is it?" he asked plainly. Not at all sure of what she was so upset about.
She handed him a few of the pictures and frowned "they were all killed" she replied in a firm American accent.
Xavier looked at the pictures and swallowed hard "this must be forgeries". She looked at him with shock and then stared down at the other pictures in her hands. "So those men were killed for forgeries is that what you're saying?" she muttered. "Are you Xavier? Is that what you are saying?". He stared at the photos again, removing his glasses.
"I don't know, Charlie" he said sternly. Then exhaling on a deep breath he said again "I don't know".
Charlie stared at the pictures in her hands once more, flipping through them after each careful glace, to try and take it all in.
"They have been lieing to us" Xavier whispered looking away.
"They lied to all of us Xavier. We all believed they had been resettled" she replied sadly.
Charlie stood up and looked around putting the pictures away "we must do something".
Xavier nodded and took a deep breath "we must get these to your ambassador before the meeting with Hitler. We can't allow this to be hidden any further" he explained.
Charlie looked around the park at everyone going on as if nothing happened. Well as far as they knew nothing had. But Charlie knew now that was not the case. Millions had died and people should find out about it.
Hours later the crowds went home after the failed meeting with Kennedy.
Charlie was sat waiting for Xavier as they had planned. She hoped he was alright. He was late. But maybe he got caught in traffic. She stared around waiting for any signs of him when suddenly she heard footsteps. She looked back seeing him fall to the floor clutching his chest. She ran over placing her handbag down beside her. He was bleeding badly and she was scared to death he would die in front of her.
She took off her coat and put it on his wound before helping him to stand. They made their way back to the house and she got the first aid kit. The hospital was too far away and right now both of them needed to lay low.
She took out what she needed and looked at him carefully as she rubbed something on his stomach to numb the area. "This may sting" she whispered and bit her lip as he gasped at the stinging sensation of the liquid.
She looked at the needle she was holding letting it shine in the light before she began to stitch up his wound.
Once it was clean and closed up she sat beside him silently.
"What are we going to do now?" she whispered.
He shrugged "we could get out of town. If not they will find us. They will come here first you know. We have to hurry" he went to get up but felt a pain in his stomach. She helped him up and was about to grab her passport from a drawer when there were sounds of a door being knocked down.
Before they knew what had happened several men were in the room. Two of them grabbed Charlie and several more grabbed Xavier.
Once at the station Charlie looked at the officer and frowned "what? What do you want me to say? You think it's alright do you? You think it's okay. Killing millions of innocent people" she hissed leaning slightly over the small table in front of her.
"You know everyone who finds out dies...so you two should consider yourselves very luck" he hissed. "Yes I am so lucky...my...Xavier just got shot" she hissed. She tried to sound sarcastic but it came out a mix of both.
Xavier was in another room staring at a man in front of him, who decided it would be fun to smoke cigarettes in his face. Xavier waved the smoke away from him and frowned "you trying to kill me slowly?" he mocked. The man shrugged "we'll see Xavier".
Xavier stared at the man and sighed deeply. They had been sat like this for at least half an hour.
"So this Red head...how do you know her? Friends...or more then friends?" the man smirked.
Xavier frowned and shrugged. The man did a shrug also like he was mockingly copying him. "What's that mean? You dunno. Come on surely you know if you two have gone past a certain stage".
"Stage of what?" Xavier muttered. "Look aren't you supposed to be questioning me or something?". The man shook his head and blew a thick ring of smoke before stubbing out the cigarette.
"I'm just looking after yah till his finished with your 'mate'" the man replied bluntly.
Hours passed and Charlie walked out of the room. "I'm glad you see reason" she sighed deeply. She had realised that no matter what they had happen to them everyone would know eventually. After all now Kennedy knew, it was likely to spread around the country.
Xavier walked out of the room next door and laid eyes on Charlie. He smiled as she walked over to hug him and embraced her gently.
"Careful" he gasped as his wound hurt him slightly. "Did I hurt you?" Charlie asked in concern. "I didn't mean to" she whispered.
He nodded and kissed her head "I know you didn't. It's alright" he whispered stroking her hair before leaning in and kissing her gently on the lips. Their first kiss.
She gently broke away and blushed touching her red cheeks. "Oh my" she whispered giving a nervous giggle. He smiled taking her hand "come on. We better get out of here". He kept walking but she stopped pulling him back "where exactly are we going?" she smiled. He looked at her and smiled brightly "we are going back home". Charlie scrunched up her face in confusion "whose home?".
Xavier looked at her gently "yours. If you don't mind two extra men in the house". Charlie gave a small laugh and giggled "he isn't a man yet Xavier. But yes you are both very welcome".
He linked his arm with hers and they made their way towards his home to get their things.
Charlie packed her bags and put her passport in her pocket. "You ready?" she asked happily.
Xavier beamed as he put a cap on his sons head and straightened his blazer. "Yes we're ready. Aren't we son?". The boy nodded and walked over to Charlie hugging her waist. "What's all this for?" Charlie whispered looking down at him in wonder. But the boy stayed silent and kept hold of her happily.
Weeks later Xavier was at his new home with Charlie in America.
Charlie was sat on the sofa of her house idly eating chips and watching the news.
Xavier walked over and sat down beside her stealing a few chips for himself. "Oi..." she smiled playfully and slapped his arm.
Suddenly both their heads turned at the same time as they heard the door behind them open. Xavier’s son walked in and sat down beside Charlie hugging her close. Charlie was less shocked of him treating her like a mother lately. In fact she quite liked it. It felt nice to be needed.
Xavier kissed her head and looked at his son as he fell asleep in her arms. Charlie looked at Xavier shyly, looking down at the boy beside her. "I'm pregnant" she whispered.
