I don't see why everyone hates Christine so much.
I go onto ff.net and everyone is calling her an 'indecisive whore' or 'stupid slut'. That's idiotic. And she seems a bit dim because she's spent 9 or 10 years of her relatively young life sheltered in an Opera House with few glimpses of the outside world. And everyone's going on about how dumb she is for not choosing Erik. Did you expect her to go, "Golly gee, my idea of a perfect boyfriend is one who attempts to murder my prospective love interest repeatedly, kills stagehands for spreading stories about him, and threatens my bosses on my behalf! I think I'll go marry Erik now"? And she's not so stupid as everyone makes her out to be. Doesn't she prevent Raoul from killing Erik in the graveyard sequence? Plus, if you were a sixteen-seventeen year old girl, totally innocent, a bit uneasy about your talent, spent most of your life in an Opera House sheltered from the cruelties of mankind and the attention of men, would you be so extremely intelligent that you would, say, recite the quadratic equation while Erik is singing 'The Music of the Night'? I think not.
She's not dim. She's not a whore. She's an innocent ballet girl who only wants to be happy.
And can you blame her?

Nope. she can't be blamed for that. I never called her a whore either. It's just my general dislike for the so-called heroes, I guess. Plus her strange hair in the "phantom of the Opera" song.

Now, you see, if my hair curled as well as hers did, the world would be a happy place. When I was very little, it used to be CORKSCREW CURLS, I say, and now they're all just blah curls.
Okay, I'm done.

Yes, I agree with Incapability. So-called heroes look always very annoying...

It's not that I think she's a whore. I just find her an annoying character. Possibly because I find her somewhat one dimensional throughout the film, but that could just be me.

A lot of people on ff.net call her a whore, though. Common reaction to Christine from anti-R/C-ers: "kristeen? lyk, omigod, she iz stoopid! she iz a hore!" and I'm like, "Ugh."

I'm no fan of Christine. But she certainly isn't a whore.

Yep. Definitely too little-girlish for that. She is a naive brat not a whore. End of story.

Okay, I shall admit it. I cannot blame Christine for wanting to be happy and she is certainly not a whore. I suppose my grudge stems from the fact that she seems so insensitive when she not only rips Erik's mask off once, but twice! And the second time right during Don Juan Triumphant! And with no probable reason that I can see even after the hundreds of times that I have watched PoTO. To me, such an act is merely unforgiveable. Hence why I am no fan of hers.
And no matter what, you will never catch me shipping E/C because it could never happen. Christine made her choice and she chose Raoul, not Erik. (understandably, I'll admit). End of story. I ship E/G and E/G only.
