Saw it yesterday, and though I liked it I was a little disappointed.
For one thing, the was this whole apocalyptic mood throughout the movie. But I guess they wanted "At World's End" to be understood in more ways than one. I wasn't too keen on what they used as "hell". Sure, it was a hellish surrounding and certainly more fitting than fire and torture, but it didn't really fit with the mood of the movie and the whole way it was made. And, they killed Chow Yun Fat too early. Not nice. I had been looking forward to him especially. Also, the cruel killing of one James Norrington has made my fangirlish heart bleed. Muchly. The was also a lot of treachery. Seemed somewhat OOC at times, but desperate circumstances, and so on I guess. And I wasn't too fond of the whole Calypso-plot. It was too sudden, it should have been hinted at a little stronger in part two.
I did, however, like that Tia Dalma was Davy Jones' lover. Also, I liked the beginning. Very strong, very emotional, and it did a great jopb setting the whole theme for the movie. And I liked that they ended the tird movie with the same song with which the first began. If one does not count that cheesy scene after the credits.
So, overall a very likeable movie that I expected to be different in places.

Didn't you think it was hilarious after Calypso turns into the giant form and does that weird talking, screaming stuff before turning into the crabs lol. I couldn't contain myself in the theater, I just had to giggle.

Sure, it was a hellish surrounding and certainly more fitting than fire and torture, but it didn't really fit with the mood of the movie and the whole way it was made. It was not hell... It was Davy Jones' Locker, which is two HIGHLY different things Hell is somewhere you come when you are just dead, like Barbossa was, but Davy Jones' Locker is when you are taken with soul and everything. Not at all hell. Just worse in a way:D Just thought I'd point it out. I almost chocked on my soda when Calypso became a giant and suddenly turned into thousands and thousands of crabs. That was just SO hilarious! I loved the music. Aaaah! Music makes so much of films like this. But there again, I am a total music freak Actually, Keira wasn't too bad in this! I don't like her, but she wasn't bad! And Bill was amazing. Naturally. Johnny Depp was.... Johnny Depp The reason I love those films so much.

Ah, well, I didn't know it was called "locked" in the original. I think the German name was "the kingdom" or "realm" or something like that. True, the music was great, but I must confess that I didn't care too much for Keira's performance. Or Orlando's, but I suppose that's due to how his character is written.

I don't think Orlando's character is supposed to be listened to or anything like that, he's just meant to be looked at (which is fine by me ;D).

Ah, the scene with him walking down the stairs on that ship and everything flying to pieces around him was really great. I was a little upset that Norrington and Govenour Swan died. And Chow Yun Fat's character (I could for the life of me not understand his name) died too early as well. *pouts*

I did quite like the film- it was fun, the battle scenes were suitably epic, the effects were exceedingly good, as was the acting (there weren't any performances that made me want to cringe at least, and Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush were particularly good in the lead roles).
I thought that the weakest point was the storyline to be honest. Despite the fact that it follows on more or less from the second film, there were loads of themes that weren't followed through between the two films.
For example, in Dead Man's Chest, there was loads of "sexual tension" between Jack and Elizabeth, before she eventually kills him, it was a major subplot in the film. Now, I don't generally go for romance in films, and I'm glad she ended up with Will and didn't make Jack end up in a cosy happily married scenario, because I don't think that would have worked. But, they get to World's End, and not only is the entire subplot summed up and brushed aside in one line "You thought I loved him?", Jack isn't even that bitter about Elizabeth killing him. He makes a few snide comments, then they go back to being just shipmates. It's bizarre.
Another thing is the Kraken. It's the major monster threat in DMC- Davy Jones and his crew, whilst villians, are generally content to sit back and let the Kraken do the finishing off of ships and enemies. It was the thing that killed Jack. And yet, in this, it is once again brushed off- its corpse appears halfway into the film, with it's death having been once more explained in one casual line earlier on in the film.
Also, the addition of this Calypso plot was fairly random. Now, I'm glad in a way, because Naomie Harris and Bill Nighy are certainly better and more fun to watch than more Orlando/Keira acting, but there was nothing in the second film to suggest that the two of them had been lovers- Tia Dalma was rather dispassionate when discussing Davy Jones's curse in DMC, not exactly the tearful former lover she acts as in AWE. And yeah, the giant Calyso and rush of crabs was fairly peculiar.
But yes, it was still fun to watch.

I must confess that I had half a mind from time to time that she might be Davy Jone's lover when watching DMC. I guess it was the way she gestured at herself when she said "it was a woman etc"

Yeah absolutely. It was obvious that she knew a whole lot more than she should, so to speak.

I nearly cried when i was watching the scene when Elisabeth saw her father and when James norrington was killed - especially because he kissed Elisabeth before that, and it was their first kiss...so sad!I've always thought Jack Davenport is HOT!))

so unpopular as usual...old me, all that pirates thing ...whatever.^_+
anyway I do respect all fans devotion , the great marketing & the director and producers vision. making a popular film with famous actors & so called cute girls...I mean "K".
must got sth to appeal the youngest...OR OLDEST..WHO KNOWS which is the "pirates" films "it " factor ,I rather dislike.
BRAVO for them anyway...making loads of money!
