was Miranda even AT the Globes?? Because when Bill and Emily were gushing over her, the camera didn't zoom in on her like it did when other celebs were mentioned, so was she actually there? Man, she should've won ALL the awards!
Im glad Meryl won....despite her being made out to look like a b**** a lot of the time, she looked really down-to-earth and nice! I was surprised lol!

Nope, I don't think Miranda was there. What a pity. It would've bene great to have at least seen her even if she wasn't nominated for anything. Well, maybe she had something more important to do.
As for Meryl, she really is a very warm person from all the interviews I've seen. Which is even more reason why she deserved the globe, and all the other awards and nominations she has so far, for playing Miranda Priestly seeing as Miranda is basically the opposite of everything Meryl is.

Damn. well it IS a pain in the arse that she wasnt there, but thanks for letting me know, 'cause I wouldve been even more pi$$ed if she WAS there and i'd missed it!
As for Meryl, I think she'd be so cool to work with. You know how lots of actors look really intimidating because they think they're sooooo high up? Meryl doesnt look like that, I think she's very level-headed considering how famous she is. How great would it be to be in a film with her?!?!
Oh, but since she took on a role alongside Lindsay Lohan, maybe she's not doing as well as we thought (sorry, *puts claws away*)-- I just cant see how they could be in a film together?! Why would Meryl wanna take on a role with such a bimbo?! Sorry, I'll shut up now. I just cant stand the way Lindsay Lohan acts, you know?

I'm no great fan of Lindsay Lohan, either. As for why Meryl did A Prairie Home Companion with her, I don't know. It is not in my power to understand how Meryl's mind works lol. I didn't like that movie at all, to be honest. The only high point was that we got to hear Meryl sing in it. Btw, have you heard that she's been cast in the upcoming film version of the musical Mamma Mia?

I was wondering if Miranda was at the Golden Globes too. I searched on Getty Images and couldn't come up with any photos. The ceremony hasn't been shown in the UK yet, so what did Bill Nighy and Emily Blunt say about Miranda?
I heard something about Meryl being in the film of Mamma Mia. She's playing the lead role of Donna, and I think she'll be excellent at it. I've seen the show and I'm not sure I can imagine it as a film, but I've got every faith in Meryl. She can sing, can't she?

I don't remember their exact words, but it was along the lines of what a brilliant actress and wonderful person she is.
Yes, Meryl can sing very well. You can find clips of her singing on YouTube from both Postcards From The Edge and A Prairie Home Companion.

Let's see...I think Emily Blunt said something like "she's spookily talented" lol. Bill said how great she was and wanted everyone to clap for her, which I did, out loud lol.

Well, the Oscar nominations have been announced. Meryl is up for Best Actress along with Helen Mirren and Judi Dench.
Unfortunately, since everyone's saying that Helen is a shoe in, this is probably just going to end up Meryl's 14th nomination and not her third win. Oh well, it's still cause for celebration in my book! ;D

I'll agree that Meryl's been jilted one too many times after giving brilliant, heart-wrenching performances (and Bridges of Madison County is a perfect example). But I still think Meryl fully deserves the nomination (if not the Oscar) for TDWP seeing as she truly did steal the entire film with her complex portrayal of Miranda Priestly.

I'm not desrupting the geniality of Meryl's performance, I just think that it would be unfair for all to give her an Oscar this year for DWP, and not for other more powerful and moving roles, and not to notice other nominants, cos this year we have at least to highly dramatic classical performances which knocks heads down, Dame Helen has completely transmuted herself into Elizabeth II and while watching The Queen, sometimes you forget that it's fiction and not a documentary, and Dame Judi has completely changed her line of business playing such a bitch no one could imagine her playing. It would like it alrady once happened when Juliette Binoche gor an Oscar for English patient and the first thing she said was "No, it has to be Lauren Bacall standing here with this award given to her!" and that really makes me respect her, cos I think Lauren did more for that year's Oscar in "The mirror has to faces".

Meryl also has another movie coming up with Robert de Niro. Yipee. Saw it on a fansite. It's called First Man, and I think she's playing someone who's running for president.

I'll agree. Meryl is facing very stiff competition. And everyone knows Dame Helen is almost guaranteed to win.
