Tarot is ok, I love Marco so it's easier to like it. I've been listening to Within Temptation a little bit, but I don't like the apparent lack of guitar solos. Actually the guitar parts in general suck, but I like the melodies, the keyboard parts are nice, the drummer isn't terrible and the sharon isn't terrible. I only listened to maybe one song of Leaves Eyes. I haven't listened to the other bands.

I am utterly frustrated. Last Saturday, I have been going out, which I usually do not do. But this time it was excusable, because it was medevial and gothic metal only. It was great. But the reason why I am so utterly frustrated is that they played this one song, which is fantabulous, and I have no idea who sang it or what it is called or what specific kind of metal it was, so an amazon-search is kinda useless. The song did not have lyrics in any language that I know exists, but it was bloody amazing. And I Can't. Bloody. Find. It!!!!
Rant over.

Ouch- that's not nice at all.
I know a couple of songs in foreign languages, but the only one I know that's in a totally invented language is "Amrhan" by Leaves' Eyes.
You could try listening to Sonic Cathedral and hope the song reappears on there, then you might find out what it is, but they do tend to play the same songs a lot, so if the band was very obscure then you might not get lucky.

I could try that. And I don't think the band was very unknown, because they played a clip from a concert with the song, and it seemed to be pretty huge. Bad thing is, I never heard of them before. But you should hear that woman's voice - there are moments when I would go as far as to call it superior to Tarja's, blasphemic as it sounds.

Wow- must have been pretty damn good, then. I wouldn't call it blasphemy- on some occasions, I have preferred other voices to Tarja's- we can be blasphemous together!
What kind of vocal style was it? Was it more operatic, Tarja-style singing, or lighter Liv-Kristine style singing, or "rockier" Evanescence type? I'm intrigued now, and wish to investigate. Oh, and were there any other vocalists on the song?

I hate it when I can't figure out what a song is. Maybe you should just google metal and maybe with foreign language and look at the bands. If the singer was a girl it may be easier to find the band. There's a rumor that the new single will be called Eva and be out May 25th, I think.
*I checked the website, it's confirmed that it's an internet song to be released on May 30th when the new singer will also be announced...and....north american tour dates were announced! ;D Nothing less than about 5 hours from me though, but I don't think I want to see them, not without tarja. *
**AND...a regular single will be in August and the album on September 26th I think!!!!!!!**

the woman was the only vocalist. the beats in the background were almost a bit techno/trance like, and from time to time the voice sounded like it was overdone with a computer, which strikes me as odd in a live-concert. the woman was not what I would call beautiful in the way Tarja is, she seemed rather "plain", with not much makeup, brown hair, and she wore some kind of medevial-looking, brown dress. The "lyrics" sounded like some kind of random syllables to me.

Hmmmm, not ringing any bells so far, Incapa.
Damn you, kathleen, you got here ahead of me! Yes, you got all the dates right. Damn, its not fair. They're touring the USA until November- I'm going to have to wait until next year to see them *weeps*

Another slightly off-topic post, I fear. Has anyone on here happened to hear of a band named "Diablo Swing Orchestra". If not, I advise you to go to their site and give them a listen. "Balrog Boogie" is particularly good, IMO. Here's the link: www.diabloswing.com/I haven't managed to get myself a copy of their album yet, but yu can hear 2 full songs and part of the third one on the site- click on the song names at the top of the page, it should work.

Has anyone heard the new Within Temptation album? I downloaded all of the songs (because I'm naughty) and I like it. I'm glad to hear more guitar, but it's still not enough.

Yes, I have. I rather like it. I'm not a fan of "Frozen", I have to say, or "The Heart of Everything", but I rather like "Truth Beneath the Rose", "Hand of Sorrow", "The Cross", "Our Solemn Hour", and "The Howling" isn't bad.

I only know that one song they played in the radio recently, and no other *pouts*, but that one was pretty good!

Was it "What Have You Done?" I believe that's the only official single they've released off the album thusfar, although one of the songs was released as a trailer for a video game.
