She shrieks. She also can't seem to just sing a word or phrase normally, she has to do the "aaah ah aaah" crap to it...like she's Mariah Carey or something.

The moment she invents "Wishmahaaster", there will be bloody murder.

Yup. Besides, I have heard that at the rate she-who-shall-not-be-named is "singing" in the live concerts, her voice will be destroyed in, like, a couple of weeks because she just isn't using any proper technique. I am once again living in hope. I also heard that, but then later on, the person who voiced said thoughts said she thought Anette was using better technique these days, which won't harm her voice. I'm still no fan, but she seems to have toned down the yodelling on Wishmaster- perhaps by the time they get to the UK it'll be gone completely, LOL?

Are you seeing them live? Have you seen them before?

No, I haven't seen them before, more's the pity, only the three DVDs and various concert bootlegs on Youtube. I may well go and see them when they come to Birmingham next year though, and see how well the live show goes.

The moment she invents "Wishmahaaster", there will be bloody murder. Yes, who wants Wishmahaaster when you can have Fishamdyerr? ;D Eeeee, does anyone know if John Two Hawks is actually on tour with them or if that was a one off in Dallas? *crosses fingers into knots*

He's not on tour with them as far as I know, he's just doing a couple of guest appearances on the North American tour, alas!
Which is a shame, because he kicks so much arse on End of An Era and the bits of the DPP tour I've seen.

Argh, how unfair. Ah well. I'm sure the concert will be good without him. *crosses fingers*

This isn't strictly Nightwish related as such (there is a link to Nightwish in there though), but I don't like starting new topics. Northern KingsNorthern Kings are a Finnish symphonic power metal musical group, made up of four musicians who have already become well known in their existing bands: Jarkko Ahola from Teräsbetoni, Marco Hietala from Nightwish and Tarot, Tony Kakko from Sonata Arctica and Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto from Charon. Here is their Myspace: www.myspace.com/northernkings. They play metalised covers of 80's pop songs.

My Nightwish book came! I wasn't expecting it for about another month. The main thing that stood out to me was the alcoholism. It seems they're never sober. Although, I think the crew is worse off than the band. The crew's antics really bothered me too. I just don't find it funny. Himiko wanted to know about Marco's beard...it's mentioned 2 or three times. He explains that it started when he shaved off the gray in his beard and was left with that.
I learned more about the split, and I think now I understand more why she was kicked. Marcelo is certainly portrayed in a negative way, but since I don't know any of them personally I can't say much about it. He does seem like a jackass though. I sort of started to feel bad for Tarja. The way the book is written, it makes it seem like she was hypnotized by Marcelo or something, and again, I don't know...maybe she was. My overall opinion is still the same though: I know they didn't always get along, but my fantasy Nightwish has Tarja's voice.

They're Finnish... of course they're never sober. And YAY, beard trivia! *cheers* Thanks, Kathleen. Hypnotized by Marcelo? I wonder how he managed that... it sure wasn't his looks.

YAY for increased knowledge of the almighty Beard! And, yeah, the rest of the band, too. But especially the beard. Hmmm, indeed, Tosca, and according to Marcelo himself it wasn't his incredible singing talent either, LOL. BTW, there are some better quality Nightwish live vids appearing for anyone who's interested: uk.youtube.com/user/Marcio2050- This guy has a load of really good quality vid clips from their recent Australia gig, but Anette was ill at the time and you can really tell. uk.youtube.com/user/Nightwishofficial?ob=1- Official Youtube page for the band, has some decent live vids as well as all the video blogs now, I believe.

A friend of mine went to that concert. She didn't know the band beforehand, which probably means she enjoyed it more than I would have. I just watched the 'Ever Dream' vid and cringed. Yeah, no, I'll listen to my old albums and pretend that band still exists. I reject your reality and substitute my own!
