Has anyone heard anything about this? Talking To Strangers is a retrospective exhibition of work by the French artist Sophie Calle, currently showing at the Whitechapel Art Gallery. Walking through this beautifully presented installation, a combination of video, photography and text, we encounter the responses of everyone from a 9 year-old girl (‘It is sad’) to a criminologist (he says ‘I’ more than 30 times in a letter with 23 sentences’). Actors Jeanne Moreau and Miranda Richardson read the text aloud in French and English respectively; others interpret it through dance, music, puppetry and even chess... Home » Dog Events & Notice Board Celebrity Supporters At The Mayhew Christmas Evening Submitted by Jennifer White on December 23, 2009 – 3:40 pmNo Comment---
‘Uther Pendragon’ and ‘Queenie’ and ‘The Queen’ were among line up to host fundraising evening in support of The Mayhew Animal Home. Anthony Head, Miranda Richardson, Jenny Seagrove and Sue Jameson came together for a Christmas fundraiser hosted in the beautiful backdrop of St John’s Wood Church in St John’s Wood London for The Mayhew Animal Home.
The third annual event was a great success and this year’s additional attractions include traditional Russian folk singers, a delicious seasonal buffet, classical music performances and an auction with the chance to win celebrity-donated items, such as an animal print by Mary McCartney, Eurostar tickets and a VIP package to the filming of Harry Hill’s TV Burp on ITV. The bidding was fantastic and the evening raised over £9,000!
Actress Sue Jameson, who has just appeared as The Queen in the Channel 4 programme, said:
“We have had two lovely dogs from the Mayhew Animal Home, and I’m delighted to be reading again at their winter fundraiser for the cats, dogs and rabbits at the centre. St John’s Wood Church is a beautiful venue and a great place to spend a cold evening, listening to carols, warming up with mulled wine and raising some money for abandoned animals at the same time!”
Mayhew CEO, Caroline Yates, said: “It was fantastic that once again our celebrity friends decided to join us for Christmas and celebrate the holidays by taking part in our event to raise much needed funds for the Home. The Mayhew is very lucky to have such wonderful support from Sue, Anthony, Jenny and Miranda.”
Highly recommended: Compare dog insurance policies and make sure your idea of the cheapest dog insurance isn’t mistaken for the best dog insurance!

Here is a piece of criticism: Miranda Richardson whose great attitude that she would rather play lots of small roles where real acting is required than some star turn that made her rich, has, in my opinion, squandered an opportunity (or been robbed of it by the director, it´s hard to tell) as the Duchess of Kent, Victoria´s mother. Although the Duchess is really one of the main villains of the piece, Ms. Richardson seems to miss, somehow, the character complexity that Rupert Friend brings to his role. All I can say if they could have given her more to do with it. Not her fault really. And the Duchess is complex. Plus the others probably had a much greater amount of actually stuff to help them. Such as Emily got to read Victoria's diaries and such. Miranda was still great, she needed more scenes anyway.

Yes the Duchess is a complex character, and I think Miranda should have been given more to work with in the script. I thought she played her part really well though! I agree that she should have been given more camera time, that way she could better portray how the Duchess thought and felt about things, and so that she could show why the Duchess acted the way she did.
