Damn xxx And if she donated anything I'd be like ahhhh. Maybe it'll turn up on ebay unless a Miranda fan grabs it. But she may not have donated an item. Just money. Who knows. Anyway there you go. And I love animals tooo. Wish I got paid sooner. Don't get paid till the day before christmas.

I have a little grievance to air: You all know that I love Miranda, right? You all know that I think she is talented? I think that she needs to fire her agent - the one who finds her jobs. There are a million projects out there: movies, telly episodes, stage-plays. Yet, as of late, all I see is Miranda attending openings and fundraisers, etc. This is a talented woman, she will have no problem getting an acting job. Why the heck does Julianne Moore (as an example) get a movie role every five minutes while Miranda is sitting idle? - because of her talent agency, that's why. Thus, a big change is needed or she will fade into obscurity sooner or later - not amongst us fans, but amongst the general public. I am irked.

I see where you are coming from, and I get your point, but I think Miranda is more than happy with her agent, to be honest. I personally have the impression that she has a very strong and clear conception of what kind of roles she wants to take, and what kind of roles she wants to turn down. In fact, she only once (or twice) complained that there were hardly any good roles for women her age, and all of those go to Meryl Streep. And I am pretty sure that she does fundraising events not because she's got nothing better to do, but because they are important to her. She wants to use her publicity to draw attention to the issues adressed in fundraisers, she wants to give something back. The roles she choses to play are usually supporting characters in smaller movies (well, most of them) but I think these roles are usually much more interesting and more 3-dymensional than leads, esp. the leads in big hollywood movies. Miranda can work her acting talent in these parts, but have a private life as well. She is a very private and somewhat shy person, and I assume the life she has chosen for herself is the life that is suiting her best.

I agree. She does these because she cares. She isn't doing them just cause her agent wants her to. Infact I suspect she is doing all this without her agent really involved. She cares about the causes. Especially the animals. And yes she needs more roles. But she is picky which is good in a way. Means she wont just take any movie role they throw at her for money. She has only ever said she did one or two for the money. All the rest are because she believes in the piece and thinks she can contribute

Yes, I think too that she does the fundraisers ect as they are causes she cares about. I also find it frustrating that she has not been cast in any AMAZING film (high budget or otherwise) for some time. We know she is great in Harry Potter or whatever, she is fantastic at what she does, we all know that, but it's not a film she will be remembered for! I understand her reasoning for choosing the roles which she does, but a lot hardly stick in your mind. I can't even remember many recent films she has done! But prehaps that's just the way she likes it, she finds happiness in what she does...so that is fine too. (But damn I'd love her to be the lead in a fabulous film sometime soon!!!)

I am sure she does these things because she cares. I am also pretty sure that she will not publically admit that she's frustrated that she hasn't been getting any big roles lately. Julianne Moore is a member of three nonprofit orgs and attends fundraisers all the time, she has written a childrens book and publicized it, plus she has 4 movies coming out - and nother 4 in pre-production. You want to tell me that she is more talented than Miranda Richardson? - I don't think so. Could it be that she has a better agent? - yes that is a possibility.

The difference with Miranda and others is that she cares a lot about not getting stereotyped. It depends on the choices that she makes and I'm sure she knows what kind of audience she wants to expose herself to. She's more of a pure actor than a celebrity and doesn't want to be limited by her age. She's always very passionate towards the charities that are of interest to her and I applaud her for being active in them. She's sincere and doesn't come off as very fake.

Miranda Richardson has nothing to be frustrated about when it comes to Meryl Streep. Streep gets all the roles because she can sell more tickets. Because Miranda chose to be more private and is afraid to take on roles because she might be steriotyped, other actresses took it and became well-known throughout the world and now they are getting all the jobs. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Besides, she shouldn't compare herself to Meryl Streep - not many actresses can. While Miranda is immensly talented (and looks better) Meryl is on the top of the pyramid which goes like this: (mind you I am not speaking about looks, or personality or most famous. It's only about pure acting talent) On the very bottom of the pyramid are all the Lindsay Lohans, Posh (Victoria Becks), Amanda Bynes, Paris Hiltons, Hillary Duffs, Anna Farris etc. The next layer consits on female actors who are one step up but aren't quite oscar material: Sarah Jessica Parker, Wynona Ryder, Anne Heche, Jennifer Aniston, Sienna Miller, Cameron Diaz, Brittany Murphy, Chloe Sevigny etc. The next bunch is made of oscar worthy performers: Angelina Jolie, Julianne Moore, Charlize Theron, Mary McDonnell, Jodie Foster, One step before the top are your real character actors: Dame Judy Dench, Miranda Richardson, Hillary Swank At the very top there are only two: Meryl Streep and Cate Blanchett
It's all true, its proven like a science.

Miranda doesn't do a ton of movies because thats not what she wants. She doesn't care about being in a huge number of movies and becoming extremely well known. She picks roles and films that have a deep meaning to her, and she wants to be able to spend time going to these charity events because they mean a lot to her. She also wants to be able to spend time helping animals all over the world and spending time with her pets. As well people who work all the time can't keep relationships as easily and to me friends and family seem very important to her.
Also Miranda isn't frustrated with Meryl Streep, I think she might have been joking when she said Meryl Streep gets all of the roles, and she did say that "Meryl is really amazing and she has done some interesting stuff." In an interview last March at the Young Victoria premiere. I don't think she is comparing herself to Meryl or anyone else, she wants to be her own person.

I totally agree with you Annette, Miranda chose her career path deliberately. She is an actor, not a celebrity, and she couldn't care less about fame. To her, fame - or being well-known for that matter - is actually the downside of the job for her. Miranda does the movies she wants because she believes in them, because she feels the heart and soul behind it. I think if she'd suddenly lead a life like Julianne Moore she'd be rather unhappy. Miranda is determined, and she knows what she wants. And whatever is right for Julianne Moore or Meryl Streep or God knows who isn't automatically right for Miranda. Considering her agent: I do not think that she'd ever surround herself with ppl who weren't beneficial to her causes. Trust in Miranda, she knows what she is doing!

Yep. I agree. It is the same for me. If I was in movies I'd not want the fame really. But it comes with it so I'd just try to keep low. I love to act. I'd not give a toss if I was amazingly Rich and well known. I'd rather do the things I wanted and have money to pay my bills and for some extras. I am glad that everyone doesn't know her. It is more special when it is just a group of fans who admire her. And not everyone in the world loving her like we do
