Lol, that's NBC! "We'll have random characters in a random plot and pretend we know what's going on!" I like the rule! I shall strictly adhere to it from now on!
There are some churches you walk into and suddenly realise why Christianity works for so many people! Has anyone been to Notre Dame? That place almost made me cry and that's hard! The feeling of faith is so overpowering at times!
And Kemmellie, it really was a great poem and I'm glad you posted it!

Yes, I do love Notre Dame! I suppose it wasn't as powerful for me as some of the other cathedrals in France because the cathedral in Metz was so dark and riveting. People were lighting candles and everyone in my group including our French teacher, Mme. Baird, and the guys, had tears in our eyes. And at the cathedral in Chartres, they were playing the organs, so it was very powerful walking through that one. But I do think Notre Dame is gorgeous and dark and wonderful. But me, I'm a Gothic architecture freak, it's half of the reason I want to go to Budapest so badly! And I'll be sure to let you know about it

Fine...you got me out of this chair, and running up to my room where I pulled the book: Celtic Myth and Mankind: Heros of the Dawn off the shelf and promptly remembered at one point I had two copies of it. SO I cursily scoured my closet and desk looking for the other one for you, but I didn't see it. I'll have to ask my mom to look for me since uh, I don't have the patience to look for things and am easily scared away by spiders. But maybe tonight, when I won't be able to sleep I'll look again . Ok, the info: Also called Heroes of the Dawn: Celtic Myth. Published by Barnes & Noble books. Copyrighted 1996 by Duncan Baird Publishers. Writers Fergus Fleming (LOL omg it's like Crying Game and Damage), Shahrukh Husain, C. Scott Littleton and Linda A. Malcor. Oh yes, ISBN is 0-7607-3929-3. (yes, college is rubbing off on me). Title sections are: The Celtic World; Gods, Goddesses, and the Cosmos; Battles of the Heroes; Tales of Magic and Transformation; Legends of Arthur; and the Legacy of the Celts. It's almost 140 pages and a very interesting and easy read. I read it in one sitting. Maybe I'll be able to find the other copy I had if someone wants it. Hmm...more procrastination projects

I have a book of Irish poetry, and I think the I have the same book you have Kemmelie.......I shall have to look for it. I love folklore of all kinds. I like Russian, Swedish, Japanese, British, American...etc........I go to the library, and go straight for the folklore, legends, myths, and fairy tales section, hahaha..........well, and the history section, lest we forget where the fiction comes from. ;D

Thank you so much! It's sounds really interesting! It's so hard to get any informative books here! I guess it was different cuz I went to Notre Dame at Easter where they were all praying and the atmosphere was really intense! I completely agree about Gothic architecture! So much nicer than today's and folklore and legends from all across the world make for some of the best reading! I found really gorgeous lithographs of Queen Mab but it won't let me copy and paste! I shall just have to buy them and scan them in some other sleepless night! I've completely given up and just watch whole chunks of Merlin now whenever someone mentions anything interesting on this thread!

I agree about the Mab-Morrighan-thing. in the movie, she's mainly the warrior-part of the triity (spelling?), I think she lost the virgin-and-mother-part throughout the war. as for Notre Dame, been there, seen it, liked the architecture, but wasn't overly touched by it. Stonehenge, though ... that had me stand in awe ...

I saw Stonhenge when I was like, 2 lol so can't remember much...
I like the warrior aspect and Miranda even said.... She wears her hair and clothes like this just because i think she's like it. Very warriorlike and strong. Something like that! No idea where the mother aspect went.

Yes - that essay, is a flippin' masterpiece, Solitas - and an excellent poem from Kemmellie, too. Solitas - I would say you show something like complete and utter mastery ( or should that be MISStery, sorry ) on the subject. Perhaps you could use your knowledge professionally. I can just see it! Picture Tony Robinson, on the set on Time Team, by some ancient stone circle, or tumuli. " And now, it's over to Cara for a real insight into what this site was used for, and the gods who were worshipped here." I dunno, p'raps you hate Time Team.......but let's not forget, with Mr Robinson, there a real link with Miranda (Blackadder). You have also confirmed what my less thorough investigations have led me to believe - that Mab had no real connections with the Arthurian legends - until NBC stepped in! However, some of the production - not just the more famous Arthur parts - were based in legend. I'm sure most of you know this, but according to Geoffrey of Monmouth's " History of the British Kings " somebody called Vortigern - sound familiar? - wanted to build a fortress in Snowdonia - but it kept falling down, so he consulted his seers for advice.......who said that he needed the blood..........I think we know the rest. Merlin, however, had special blood because he had been fathered by a demon, not created by you - know - who......The background to this story is given in the Welsh MABiginion, which relates how the two dragons - red and white - made nuisances of themselves 5 centuries before even Vortigern's reign. Funny, I used to refer to Mab as Pretty Queen MEAD long before I read the essay! I see now what you mean about the movie - doesn't bode all that well for MA does it? XXXXXXXXXXX

So I rented the Merlin DVD yesterday...and I don't know if it was the Vikoden, the blood in my mouth, or what but I really enjoyed it a lot more...oh it could have been dvd quality too. Still have the same complaints, but I did notice the sexual tension in the tent, appreciated Nimue to a greater extent...I guess the main difference was I liked Mab before but I really enjoyed her character on subsequent viewings, again, a lot more!!!! This is not to say that I still don't find it incredibly irratating because it's still poorly put together and overly Christian, but I feel a lot better about buying it now because I did enjoy myself watching it.
Yesterday, I also cried three times because a Hilary Duff movie (Raise Your Voice) was incredibly sad, so feel free to chalk it all up to pain and drugs. I don't feel able to analyze anything yet though because I still have blood running down the back of my throat and making me want to hurl, so off to gargle salt water now!!!

That happened to me a couple of times.....once, when I had 4 teeth removed, before I had braces........when I had my wisdom teeth out, and when I had my adenoids out, I had to go to the hospital, because I was puking blood, because they didn't put stuff in my nose to stop the bleeding.......moronic doctors........My appendix was worse, though......nasty scars on my tummy now........evil doctors...... ........Are you feeling better today, Kemmelie??

My throat is still killing me, though there's significantly less blood. I had the last of my wisdom teeth removed and if I had it to do over and I would've had them pulled with my four teeth before braces like you and the top two wisdom teeth so I'd only have to go through this crap ONCE!!! I don't remember getting sick last time though, probably cause there was much more pain!!!

It's not a pleasant experience........I had to go to an oral surgeon for my bottom 2 wisdom teeth........one of them had 4 roots, and the other 5. The surgeon said I had very unique teeth, HAHAHAHA........he kept the one with 5 roots, to show his trainees, hehehe..........I looked like a puffy-faced munchkin when I was done......... .......

Years ago my dentist told me I should have enough space for my wisdom teeth to grow in without causing an issue. They've been growing in slowly for several years now, they don't bother me much so I'm really hoping I never have to have them removed.
