This is a script I wrote about how Pamela and Kenneth put up with eachother. Do they really love each other or is it one sided. Enjoy. These are Pamela Flitton (Miranda) and Kenneth. Husband and wife from dance to the music of time.
Kenneth: It's late.
Pamela: Is it...
Kenneth: Yes it is. Where have you been?
Pamela: Out.
Kenneth: Out where?
Pamela: Does it matter?
Kenneth: Yes it does. To me.
Pamela: I just left the party late that's all.
Kenneth: Pamela it's midnight!
Pamela: So...let me guess...you're giving me a curfew.
Kenneth: Don't be silly.
Pamela: I'm not. It just sounds like something you would do.
Kenneth: I only care about your welfare.
Pamela: You only care about keeping an eye on me. (Flips her brown curly hair casually).
Kenneth: You are wrong Pamela. I do no such thing.
Pamela: If you say so.
Kenneth: I do. I'd also like you to stop causing such scenes in public. I must say I was deadly embarrassed by your actions.
Pamela: You always encouraged that I be truthful about things.
You said lieing is a filthy habit and that the sooner I speak my mind the better for it.
Kenneth: I didn't mean for you to go making a fool of yourself.
Pamela: Are you sure that's why you're angry with me? Not because I made a fool of you?
Kenneth: I am no fool
Pamela: (shrugs) maybe not. But then why so angry when I speak my mind?
Kenneth: You didn't speak your mind you spoke out of turn.
Pamela: We're not in the military.
Kenneth: The information you discussed was that of a private matter.
Pamela: Couldn't have been that private. You told me after all. Didn't you?
Kenneth: I did, and I know now that, that was a huge mistake.
Pamela: I'm going to bed.
Kenneth: Pamela!
Pamela: (looks round, her hands in her pockets).
Kenneth: I'm sorry. I do love you, and I wish I could only prove it to you somehow.
Pamela: I just had a moment.
Kenneth: But these so called 'Moments' keep happening Pamela.
Pamela: I know. I apologise.
Kenneth: Come here.
Pamela: (walks over to him)
Kenneth: I have been somewhat selfish. I should put you more into consideration in the future.
Pamela: We should both consider each other a little more. Shouldn't we?
Kenneth: (nods) Come now my dear, let us go and enjoy the rest of our evening.
Pamela: Doing what exactly?
Kenneth: I thought we could read together. Or look at those paintings you find so oddly fascinating.
I have decided I should make a definite effort to take your interests more to heart then I have done.
Pamela: That is very kind of you.
Kenneth: It's the least a husband can do.
Pamela: I was thinking I would like to come to the party after all.
Kenneth: Party? What party?
Pamela: The one you wanted me to join you at but I told you I was too busy.
Kenneth: Oh that. You don't have to come my darling. It will most likely be me myself and a couple of other men just drinking wine while discussing military business.
Pamela: I want to.
Kenneth: Very well. I shall tell them of your sudden change of heart and let them know they can bring their wives along.
Pamela: You do that.
Next Day
Pamela: I'm ready.
Kenneth: Not quite.
Pamela: How do you know if I'm ready or not?
Kenneth: You haven't got your necklace on.
Pamela: What necklace?
Kenneth: (brings over a large box and opens it. Inside is a diamond necklace).
Pamela: Kenneth (speechless)...you shouldn't have.
Kenneth: Do you like it?
Pamela: I love it. How much was it?
Kenneth: Never mind about figures my dear.
Pamela: (lets him put it around her neck) it’s beautiful. (Looks into the mirror at her reflection, touching the necklace). Is it real?
Kenneth: Yes. A hundred percent real.
Pamela: I cannot accept such an extravagant gift.
Kenneth: You must, I brought it for you. I can't return it now.
Pamela: Who said anything about returning it?
Kenneth: Well you did.
Pamela: I didn't say we should give it back, I said I couldn't accept it.
Kenneth: Which one would automatically think you were wanting to return it.
Pamela: (rolls her eyes) It was a figure of speech Kenneth. Please stop looking so deep into everything I say and do.
Kenneth: Ready?
Pamela: I said so didn't I?
Kenneth: (helps her on with her coat). There we are. Pretty as a picture.
Pamela: You'd say that no matter what I was dressed in.
Kenneth: True. I probably would.
Pamela: (picks up her purse) let’s go then.
Kenneth: (offers her his arm)
Pamela: (links arms with him and makes her way outside the house. Her heels clicking as she walked down the steps).
Kenneth: It's late.
