LMAO... there are so many funny scenes in that movie, I love the bit where she basically attacks Farquhar and he runs from the room. And of course the Egyptian Cobra part, I am laughing now just typing about it.

Yes, Nessa!
I love where she tells him to please tell Flora he was lying and that his name is something a lot more "heroic" than Farquhar. I love how he randomly comes up with "Hercules" and the way Miranda looks at him when she says it, kind of mocking/joking like.
I forgot how funny that movie is!
And YAYYY Queenie, so glad you and your friend enjoyed the pics!

Oh, I love the pics....I really need to watch that. Maybe if I'm really nice, my mum will give me Rage, and Falling Angels.... Then my dad will graciously order All For Love, and then Barry will secretly give it to us (not put in in the mailbox this time) And then I can watch it, and hide it under my matress if necessary. Sorry about my rant, I was thinking it up as I went along...so I needed it written down.

I thought that in order to start ripping apart Miranda's films, analsing them into their very atoms and thereby finding even more reasons for Miranda's utter greatness, we could start with something simple such as St Ives. Yeah, erhm, off to the analysing. How do you think the character of Miss G turned out the way she is at a time where women had to bloody well be, well, not like her. You know, travelling, smoking, shooting, "seducing" strangers in the middle of the night, all that stuff.

You know, traveling, smoking, shooting, "seducing" strangers in the middle of the night, all that stuff. Hmmmmmm interesting question Incap. It could be that she was more educated than most women during that era and so could have more opinions and thoughts on society etc that women at that time were not expected to have, that could have had an effect on her, for example her behavior such as the drinking etc. Also she was not married (well it never said she was in the film so I'll go along that she was unmarried) and so she did not have to conform to being the stereotypical "wife and mother" role. Therefore she could do basically what she wanted eg travel and such without worrying that she was neglecting her children etc. She traveled to places quite a far from where she lived and so with regards to somking the opium (I presume thats what it was) she could have seen that in places she went to and indeed tried it and then caried on doing so when she got back home! It could also be just that she was a very independent woman for her time and so did those sort of things. She may have had a gun as protection against intruders etc and so thats how she came to shooting people in the middle of the night. Ok, I'll stop my rambalings now!! Seriously Himiko watch it if you ever get a chance to, as Incap said "you'll laugh you ass off," it really is SO funny!

I must see this. The caps are simply gorgeous, and I love Richard E. Grant, too. He has a ponytail! *dies* My God, me and my weakness for long haired men. And Miranda. In the same film. GUH. Anyway. What's the film's actual British title? I want to see if I can find it before I have to go back to the land of 'our video stores only stock American blockbusters, kthx'.
