Dame Commander of the British Empire do you think is the right time for Miranda to recieve that honor. I think she deserves it. what do you think about that BRITSH title. IN THAT CASE WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL MIRANDA DO. -Will she accept it. -Will she refuese it. -Just the same to her. a few DAMES: *Agatha Christie *Helen Mirren *Maggie Smith *Judy dench *Elizabeth Taylor *Julie Andrews *Shirley Bassey *IN 1999 VANESSA REDGRAVE,AT THAT TIME 62 YEARS OLD, REFUSES THE TITLE ,TO POSH FOR HER,SHE IS MUCH INTO POLITICS & HUMAN RIGHTS STUFF.ANYWAY... JUST TO LET YOU KNOW DEBORAH KERR is SCOTTISH the living legend ,the classic star of films like quo vadis or" an affair to remeber" suffers from Parkinson's disease. ,YOU MAY KNOW IT.I read it time ago from wikipedia: In 1998, The Queen appointed Deborah Kerr a CBE, after an intensive lobbying effort and letter writing campaign by screenwriter, Michael Russnow. He and other writers petitioned the British government to bestow upon her the title of "Dame," (the feminine equivalent of "Sir,") but her then-expatriate status counted against her. Although there have been repeated subsequent attempts to gain this for Kerr, including Letters to the Editor and articles in the major British dailies [1], she has not yet received that higher honour. JUST AN EXAMPLE.THAT CLASSY AND CHARMING LADY DID DESERVE IT.TILL NOW NTH FROM QUEEN ELIZABETH. SHAME ON HER! HAVE YOUR SAYING !!! Thanks

I would certainly like it if Miranda was at least offered the title, even if she didn't accept it. As to whether she would, I don't know. Quite possibly- as a general rule I think more accept it than turn it down (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!)
Yes, Dame Miranda has a lovely ring to it.

a few DAMES: Agatha Christie HELEN MIRREN Maggie Smith JUDY DENCH Elizabeth Taylor Julie Andrews Shirley Bassey They're all a lot older than Miranda. Helen Mirrin and Shirley Bassey must be in their 60s and Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, Elizabeth Taylor and Julie Andrews must all be in their early to mid 70s. Miranda's only 49 so she might be a bit young yet. It would be nice for her to be honoured in some way, but if she's not, we love her and that's all that matters.

I think it would rock beyond human ability to comprehend if she was offered the title of Dame, but I have no idea if she'd accept it. And Dame Miranda does have the most lovely ring to it...

Yes, it does have a pretty ring to it. ^^ I can see the point about it being too full of airs and graces for some people... still, it would be nice if she was offered. She has been around awhile, and is still going to strong - must deserve something for it.

Also, some people object to the idea of being entitled Commander (or whatever) of the British Empire. The idea of the Empire still has a lot of negative ideas attached to it, not to mention that the British Empire, in the minds of most, no longer exists. I believe this was the reason that Benjamin Zephaniah turned down an OBE (I think that's what he was offered).

That would be awesome if she was Dame Miranda! Maybe she would be more popular after gaining that title and people would realize how amazing she is! I don't know if she would except it, but she certainly should!!!!

In about ten years, definitely. She's too young at the moment.

My view is that it's too early for Miranda to be "Dame Miranda Richardson." She may receive that honour someday - for her work in animal rights as well as her acting accomplishments. There is also Emma Thompson and several others who might deserve the title too. What bothers me about any award and honour is that some deserving people receive it and others, just as deserving, do not. I have looked at Miranda's acting credits and as yet - she has not done much Shakespeare, which is essential for any actor. To paraphrase a line from Star Wars, "The Force is with Miranda but she is not a Jedi yet."
