Well, as I said in the Nightwish thread, now that Nightwish has a new singer (however much we might lament the fact that Tarja is no longer part of the band), due to the large amount of information being posted about Tarja's new album, mostly by me, I confess, with the new Nightwish album coming out soon, too, I thought it might be best to shift most of the information about "My Winter Storm" over here, and keep this thread for Tarja- related stuff, and the other thread for Nightwish.
Anyway, here's most of the "My Winter Storm" stuff from the Nightwish thread, and some new lyrics.
Firstly, the album's going to be called "My Winter Storm". The guitars, bass, drums and keyboards (and I believe some vocals) were recorded at Grouse Lodge studio in Ireland. Tarja is currently recording her vocals in Ibiza, and the album's going to have orchestra and choir on it, too (which maketh me very happy indeed). Last I knew, 16 songs have been recorded, and there's probably going to be about 12-13 on the album.
There's been a few song titles disclosed by Tarja on the blog, so I'll post them, too:
I Walk Alone- this is going to be the first single, apparently.
Oasis- The working title for a song that Tarja composed (or co-composed, I'm not sure). Last I heard it was a working title, but it seems to have been kept as the actual title for now.
The Seer- Apparently contains the lowest note on the album.
Damned and Divine- all I know about this one is the title, and that Tarja has finished recording her vocals for it- here are some lyrics, too:
Frozen in time
yearning forbidden wishes
Damned and divine
Scars of my broken kisses
What will follow …if tomorrow’s blind
My eternal night
Lost Northern Star- apparently, contains lots of operatic vocals, whispering voices, hundreds of harmonies, and a creepy atmosphere. Some lyrics below.
As time passes by
I set up the weather
To suit how you feel
Drop rain down with wishes
build grace out of steel
Sing for me- Totally different from Lost Northern Star with an orchestra and choir on it.
Calling Grace- Composed with the intention of being the album's final song. Features a guest musician from Brazil, whose name hasn't thus far been disclosed. And here are some more lyrics.
Her inner voice has learned to speak
Following her dreams
Her tears made her swim beneath the sea
She’s free
AND, more important and fantastic than any of the above, there is a man named Jim doing the orchestral arrangements!
