Yay, Gideon's Daughter was really good. A bit random in places Stella (Miranda's character) had THE most mentalliest dress sence EVER! But she was amazing as ever.
Also Bill Nighy and Robert Linsay were great too. The film wasn't as engaging as perhaps The Lost Prince was, but neither was Friends and Crocodlies... anywoo, it was still fab

I HAVE to order it off the net. Really need to. How was it? Tell me about Miranda? I love Poliakoff so it ought to be a veeeery good film, right? Well this is what I really thought of it! Miranda and Bill Nighy were fabulous in their roles, but it was a little complicated at times, kinda political and all about what Britain was going to do to celebrate the year 2000. I would watch it again, and possibly buy the dvd if I found it cheaper than £19.99 which is how much the RRP is. I may have not followed it as well as I could have done beucase it was on quite late and I was tired so... If you really did want to see it, get it because Miranda was fab.

Yeah, I don't really understand it either.
Don't let the whole political thing put you off though, cos it was really good dispite that.

And politics are really me too. I know LOADS about it. I love that, so I might just have to get it. Especially since Miranda is in it.

I don't think it was really political. I think the point was to paint the human story against the backdrop of a world story, to capture the essence of that surreal summer. Not that I was in Britain that summer, but I do remember it from being a Sydney schoolgirl, even if the context was different. I think it;s interesting that they set it against something everyone who was alive then would remember - the death of Diana, the lead up to the new millenium, but it was so personal and real and powerful. I really identified with them. I really identified with the upheaval, and the need to find some sort of equilibrium and restraint in such a crazy time. I think we are all living in a time now where world events seem incredibly relevant to our everyday lives, and I think perhaps that was the beginning of that feeling - the feeling of existence being all caught up in everything, in being in a whirlwind. I love that the characters managed to fins stillness and movement at their own pace in each other. Or, you know, perhaps I'm rambling rather incoerently. I'll need to watch it at least 20 more times yet, I think .

No, it wasn't really that political, it was just I was really tired and not paying too much attention to the bits wothout Miranda so I kinda got lost a few times with what was happening. Like I didn't get who Robert Linsay's character was.
