Right Mandy, I have done the best I can and I hope this helps you. I have missed out some bits I thought weren't too important or easy to follow....but if you want anymore help with any bits of the interview let me know and I will private msg you it. (I also didn't want to write pages and pages and bore everyone else to death ). Firstly they talk about Miranda's home town Southport, and she is asked whether it is a stereotypical sea side town. Miranda jokes and explains that you didn't really see the sea....mostly sand covered with loads of dead jellyfish. She says a man would search the beach and dig through the sand to collect Lug worms, which were sold to fishermen as bait. She says that they were very scary creatures, ' A Freudian nightmare!'. They then talk about Miranda's home life. She lived a middle class life living in a semi-detached house with her mother Marion, her father who was known as Alan and her sister Lesley. They had a big garden that Miranda used to run to the bottom of and listen to the wind in the trees...and terrify herself!! She later goes on to say how she feels that due to the age gap between her and her sister (about 9 years I think) she felt she spent a lot of time alone, although she says that it isn't a bad thing as it helps to fire up the imagination. They then talk about how her father insisted he was a good cook, but was not allowed in the kitchen because it was a lie!! And how he was always looking for a bargain, Miranda tells how he brought mis-shapen bread and one Xmas a turkey with one leg!! She also mentioned the wonky donkey we talked about before Next she talks about how she moved out to Bristol and failed at various jobs. But how she was very experimental with food, even once trying Pigs Trotters....which were disgusting!! She says her first job was in Manchester Library Theatre, were she worked for 10 months. Then there is the message from Roberta Taylor who met her when they worked there. I think it is sweet when Roberta says her only complaint when Miranda cooks for her is that she cooks too late....the food is served around 10pm...then Miranda does that brill voice and says, 'Shes lucky to be cooked for at all, thats what I say!' Then they talk about Miranda as a friend, she says she thinks she is a good friend as she is a good listener. Then there is the really sweet message from her friend. That if you didn't manage to understand everything describes Miranda as: very engaged with life, funny, spontaneous, an Honorable and principled person, lives life beautifully and celebrates everything, very appreciative, and she makes you feel stronger.....if you have a problem if you talk to her she makes you feel strong. Simon Russell Beale then describes Miranda as: gentle, kind, having a massive appetite for everything, has a huge set of loyal friends, and looks for the odd approach to everything.....which can be seen in her approach to Queenie in Blackadder. Talking about Dance with a Stranger Miranda states that her agent felt Miranda had reinvented herself the way Ruth Ellis had, Miranda says she does not know why he thought this...but is glad he did. They talk about how she has played some wonderful characters....and a lot of Queens. Miranda says she feels sometimes with the parts she takes she is, 'on a sort of joy ride'. Also they talk about her opportunity to wear beautiful costumes. Miranda mentions Alice in Wonderland and the under dress she wore being like a corset...sucking you in and then exploding out. She says...'you could kill someone with that dress!' Miranda later explains she always (and thinks its practical) prefers what she is working on at the time, and says she does like to do comedy when she can. They talk about parts Miranda has declined and Fatal Attraction is discussed. Miranda says she declined the part because she did not like how it seemed to demonise women, and after playing Ruth Ellis she did not want to be stereotyped as playing murderers. She says she feels sometimes this is what people want her to be, 'a knife brandisher'. The last interesting point is during the final feast she says she would have liked to have met Wharton Esherick a sculptor and theatre designer. I hope this is ok, if there are any other parts I missed let me know! Oh and here is a link to info about Wharton Esherick in case your interested: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wharton_Esherick ;D
