To Mesmero et al, Yes we male admirers do exist. I dont know the extent of your knowledge of Miranda's film work, but if you will allow me, I would suggest some " sine qua nons".
Dance with a Stranger- The film that put her on the map. Nothing would be the same after wards.
The Crying Game- Watching her pistol whip Forest Whitaker will indelibly stay with you.
Enchanted April- Simply a lovely film.
Tom and Viv- One of her greatest performances! Too many great scenes to mention, but the one where she encounters her mother about her "disease" is not to be missed.
The Apostle- Great little indy film with Robert Duvall.
Spider- For my money, her greatest "tour de force". She plays 3 completely disparate roles-- a mousy working class mother/housewife, a brazen bar harlot, and an elderly halfway house proprietress, all with absolute spot on excellence. Why she was not nominated for an Academy Award is beyond my comprehension. I left out her role in Damage, for though she single handidly saved the movie, it was not a great production, at least IMHO.
Anyhow, welcome. Ive been away, but may return to "bore the people to tears".

She was amazing in Dance With a Stranger. I can't believe it was her first major film role. She was also fantastic in The Crying Game. Yes the pistol whip thing did stay with me! And the rest of the movie is great... not just the Miranda bits.
Need to see Enchanted April and Tom and Viv
She was incredible in Spider. She handled all three roles amazingly well. I always knew she was a real chameleon. This film only proved it.
I agree with you about Damage. She was by far the best thing about the movie. She managed to steal the whole film with just two scenes. And the scene where she breaks down was one of if not the best acted scenes I ever seen.

You might be able to call my dad a Miranda fan, he always watches her movies with me no matter how many times he has seen them, but I have been hiding a few because I am a little embarassed to watch them with him. He always compliments her whenever he sees her on tv so I am sure he is a fan!
