Yes, very true. It is possible to take things too far. I do find it interesting to see what people get out of your work, though. In our creative writing class this semester, we did a round of workshops in which everyone submitted work and everyone read it, and discussed it for half of a day's class. It's very interesting to find out the kind of thing that gets read into your work. But yeah, it can go a bit too far, I agree with that. As for history, I suppose that depends where you decide to set your work! Also, in case you're wondering, I'm not on msn because I'm working on my fic ( gah) which is due tomorrow. The sooper seekrit phone call = . Trying to think of a few more tactics.

To pop briefly back to what you were discussing further up the page, I agree about the over analysis that can occur in schools. I think in a lot of cases, analytical skills are beneficial (even though I don't do English anymore, I find it useful in History), but I think analysing books takes all the joy out of them sometimes. BTW, have any of you heard about the author who sat down and took the exam about his book. He failed the exam! I'm pretty sure he knew what the book was supposed to be about! Apparently, he removed his book from the list of books that pupils could be examined on after that! ;D

Heh, yes, Phoebe, telepathic *snerk*. Update: it's still not done, and it's two days after the dealine, but they don't post them til the first so I do have some time. Exam on the 26th, though, so I probably should do some study. Honestly, though, between my fic and my two rps and my upcoming holidays, who needs a damn media exam? *sigh*. But yes, it's Rita/Hermione, postwar, but I won't say much more than that (not that half of the people I chat to don't already know. It's lucky the fic's recipient isn't on my LJ friends list, or they'd probably know it was me). I'll post it - or a link to it, depending on how long (and porny) it ends up being here, when the authors are revealed after the fest. Also, just to follow my own rules and keep my own thread on topic, have some more shiny. Most of these were made for the rp I'm in - Pamela Flitton is the new face of 'Stella Yaxley' - Rita's happily married younger sister (and if you want to see some intertextual Miranda geekery, checkout the name and 'played by' of her husband at their profile). I made a few variations on the Pam pictures so they could be used by others, too. And these ones are from DWAS, and mainly for my more 'creative' RPs (note that Rupert Everett has a large nose, and, when cropped, can pass for Snape! ;D) Also this one, because I felt like it a while back:

I actually watched a drama about The Moors Murders because the woman playing Myra Hindley looked like Miranda as Ruth. i love that look.
But I got too scared by it, it was terrifying.

Was that the one with Maxine Peake in it? I missed that one, but I think they're making another one with Samantha Morton as Hindley. Seems a bit of a peculiar subject to suddenly start making a tonne of films about, but there you go.
