I have seen most of it before and got the dvd today, I wanted to see her outtake. She started her line 'it's taken us twelve hundred years to get where we are'. But she stopped before the end of the sentence and said 'what do I say' and pulled a face. Watched some of my fave scenes on youtube. And forgot about one where she is sitting in a room and the doctor is there. I looked at her and was like dam I have not seen this bit in ages. And realised in that scene how much she looked like Lauren compton. Wish she had more in that scene and that they continued it with a little conversation with Haraald and Rosalind. Even one of the people working on the film said how Rosalind was an amazing character all by herself. I think her character stood out and could have had so many extra scenes which would have been amazing. I wanted more Haraald Rosalind scenes.

no offense to anyone, but i truly hate this movie. first of all, Julia Stiles is almost painful to watch on screen. Second, whoever played the prince has only one facial expression and otherwise is dead as far as emotion goes. I do also have a problem with Miranda's character. She goes from being completely disapproving of her son being with Julia Stiles (whose character name escapes me) to adoring her and lending her jewels! it is ridiculous! i am sorry, but i can't say i was pleased with this movie at all and i have seen it bunches of times trying to figure out what went wrong.

I wouldn't say Rosalind ends up adoring Paige, she just respects her for helping Edvard mature into the man he needs to be in order to be king. Before he went to America he was nothing but a playboy who took nothing seriously and then he met Paige and he...grew up. That's the only reason Rosalind took a liking to her at all, at least in my opinion.

I agree, the rest of the movie was not great. But Rosalind as a character was so interesting, I just love how Miranda plays royals. She acts as if she owns the room. And as I said it would have been better had they developed bits of her and Haraald.

It's certainly not a fantastic, classic movie, but it was mildly enjoyable for me. It would fall under the "cute" category, although it's sort of a mild cute.
"Cute" movies have: happy endings (not necessarily romantic though), they aren't crap, but they aren't classic, they have funny moments, and they can be watched multiple times. Some examples for me: Legally Blonde, Miss Congeniality, etc. Cute movies can be watched multiple times because they don't have any deep, philosophical messages in them, and they are funny. Then, you have the different levels of cute movies (the ok cute movies, or the good cute movies). I mention My Big Fat Greek Wedding because it was on tv last night. That movie is definitely cute, but it is also a good movie. Cute movies can sometimes be classics though. A Christmas Story is cute, but it is a classic Christmas movie. Then, there are movies that are difficult for me to categorize. As Good As It Gets is a great movie with a fantastic cast that won oscars. However, it is also basically a comedy with a happy, romantic ending. I think it is difficult for us to think of comedies as great movies because normally the 4 star, oscar winning movies are dramas.
I can't believe I just went on about all that lol.

I can understand how most of the culture thinks that comedies are not the best movies but as for me I think they are the best!! I would much rather Laugh at a GOOD *cough* Monty Python *cough* comedy than cry my eyes out on a predictable drama any day.
OK back to the topic, I thought this movie was OK though Miranda made it wonderful but she wasn't in it enough for me to say it was a good movie and also to accept the annoyance of Julia Styles. I am not saying that she doesn't have any talent, I am just annoyed by the fact that she acts the same way in all of her movies. she has no range *Le sigh*

lol I agree I always end up skipping to Miranda so that shows you why I like the movie. I love Rosalind's hair and her outfits. The one I realised I had not seen in ages was when Haraald was seen by the doctor she was sat there in a kind of white creamy outfit. I was like aw get closer to Miranda she looks pretty:)hehe As I said they should have extended some bits with the couple. Like that bit ended on something like 'time to go'. And I wanted it to carry on:)and not Miranda deleted scenes grrr lol

I enjoyed the bits of The Prince and Me that Miranda was in. The rest of it was a bit rubbish. Miranda looked gorgeous in it, as she always does.

This is on this coming Tuesday and Wednesday (or not, check your listing on IMDB- I'm not sure about cable differences) on TBS I think ... I never saw it before but now I want to see it just for Miranda. Let's hope the rest is worthwhile.

I think it's fun as long as you don't know too much about how monarchies work? I've a few LJ friends who are rather into royalty and watch films like this one and 'The Princess Diaries' and can't suspend their disbelief to enjoy it.
I was a little ticked off by the 'hollywoodization' of an Australian story, but meh. It's an enjoyable film, worth the watch, and Manda's character is great.

I just saw it earlier - didn't like the story much - I think Julia Stiles's character fell in love far too quickly. But, was worth it just to see Miranda. Any movie with her in it is worth it, if only just to see her. ;D
