I guess her brain just went upside down, and that is understandable for me at least. I did a bit of research about the case today. It's certainly an interesting one. In 1955, when the case was heard, the "diminished responsibility" defence wasn't in place. This means that even if Mrs Ellis was in an unfit state of mind, she could still be convicted of murder. If Mrs Ellis were on trial today, her defence could argue that she wasn't in her correct frame of mind, and so didn't fully understand what she was doing (diminished responsibility). I found it interesting how Mrs Ellis didn't actually appeal against her conviction at the time. Her family are trying to get a pardon for her.

I searched up about it many times, apparently Miranda spoke to Ruth's sister when doing the film. I think that's what it said. I need to get the dvd again cause mine has go scratched. I have to learn to keep ones I watch alot in their cases.

Indeed. Ruth wasn't really a bad person, she was only upset about David letting her down despite everything she had done for him.Now killing him may not have been the best way to solve it all,but it was her way of dealing with things too hard for her to handle. I guess her brain just went upside down, and that is understandable for me at least. but of course she's forgiven to me

I've just finished watching this movie! Wow!! That was execution. However, instead of shooting the Blakely dude, she should have pulled off a Mab and made it look like he tripped on the stairs or something like that ;D Anyway, she's lovely in this movie.

This was one of the first movies I ever saw Miranda in. I too think she is lovely in it! She did an amazing job on her first film!! I wonder what it would have been like if she had pushed him down the stairs like you suggested? He would deserve it because he pretty much pushed her down the stairs. They can't change the story though. And besides, the scene at the end of the movie is really emotional and eerie. It's really well done!
