Same!!! I was so looking forward to that!! As well as basically ALL of Professor McGonagall's scenes, she is one of my favourite characters and I was really looking forward to seeing all of her scenes in the film. I was greatly disappointed. But I have put it past me and now I love the movie again!

I'd love to know too. I mean, Miranda's my homegirl, always will be, but I love Catherine. Chicago is one of my favorite movies and CZJ's the best part in it. I mean, it sucks that Miranda hasn't won an Oscar yet, but that doesn't mean Catherine (or Renee) were not deserving of theirs. Velma Kelly was a complex and layered character and Catherine nailed her in acting, singing, and dancing-wise perfectly. And not trying to be provocative, but a really early post about tension between Catherine and Renee and how they were less good at hiding it than Miranda and Jeremy in Damage: Renee and Catherine's characters did NOT like each other. That was one of the points of the entire movie. I don't know about any supposed tension off screen, but on screen that tension was supposed to be there and they did a fantastic job portraying it. And Catherine dancing like an elephant? To each there own, but I say she was really good. I mean it's not like a delicate graceful ballet or anything but Velma wasn't a ballerina. She was a vaudeville performer and Catherine was just doing the dance of the times (1920's jazz) and in the 'I Can't Do it Alone' scene she's not supposed to be amazing; she was dancing a two woman show by herself in an act of desperation. And singing and dancing DO qualify as acting, what do you suppose opera singers and ballerinas do? In fact I'd say they are more talented in some cases, because they can convey their emotions in song and dance as opposed to words. Sorry about my Chicago and Catherine rant, and I'm not trying to be mean, it's just that I love Chicago and Catherine, and even if I didn't, I wouldn't want to see them get hated on. Of course everyone has a right to their own opinion, and this is mine. Logically, if you were going to hate someone for robbing Miranda, wouldn't it be Marisa Tomei, who beat Miranda for the Oscar in 1992 undeserving?

Very shortly putting it, I agree with you!!!! Catherine was great in Chicago, and she deserved her award, not to say that Miranda did not deserve an award. Catherine was acting the way the character was meant to be. All of the actors in both movies were great. Enough said XD

I totally agree with both of you. I love Chicago and Catherine was fantastic in it. She was particularly great in the opening number imo

I don't think the CZJ hate (that you've seen on these boards in old old threads, I guess?) was because she 'robbed' Miranda. I think it had something to do with a comment she made in an interview once - that she would like to play Ruth Ellis because no one had ever 'played her properly' before, or something along those lines.
Those threads were fairly old when I joined the forums, and though there might be some Miranda fans out there who can hold a grudge, I think the outrage has well and truly died down.
I certainly wouldn't hold a grudge. It's quite possible that CZJ had never even heard of 'Dance With a Stranger' when she made that comment, and even if she had, well, you know. She didn't have to like it. If that was the case, I would disagree with her, but yeah.
Fans can just get a little protective sometimes *g*.

Oh yeah I do remember someone mentioning that on here. I agree with you, she might not have seen Dance with a Stranger, and even if she did so what if she didn't like it? It personally wasn't my favorite thing in the world (Miranda was good in it, mind you, I just didn't care for the movie itself). And who says CZJ couldn't pull off Ruth Ellis? Though you're right about people getting defensive. I have a friend who you don't even want to think about saying bad things about this game called Kingdom Hearts in Front of. On a lighter note: Did you see CZJ is going to be in Rock of Ages? I am a huge classic rock fan so I'm really excited to see how it will turn out.

People do get ridiculously defensive over their favourite actors and fandoms and whatever else. I have had my fair share of ripping at people who said something bad about my favourite actors / shows / characters! (I regret nothing ) I am so excited to see Catherine in Rock of Ages!!!! I saw the production in Toronto and watched scenes from the Broadway versions from Broadway.com and Youtube and the Tony Awards and such, The movie should be awsome!!! CZJ looks like she is going to be great in it!!!

I am being a little bit disturbed by not knowing how exactly should the words "Mirandatia" and "Mirandaite" be prononced, could anyone help me please?

Mir-an-day-sha (think Croatia)
Mir-an-dite or Miranda-ite, depending on how you prefer to spell it. 'ite' as in 'fight'.
Or I suppose you could pronounce 'Mirandaite' as Mir-an-date?
I don't think there are really any pronunciation rules for made-up words.

Thank you, that's what I needed :-)
(Yes, surely there are not rules, but the author means it some way ;-) )
