*shock horror* I haven't posted any random links here for ages! Random Pieces of Information# There will be a duet with weird-husky-voiced-metal-singer Doro on the new album. About which I am DUBIOUS. << # An EP is being released on 1st December - presumably MWS with bonus material. Enough (better quality version here btw) is going to be on here instead of the new album, apparently. # Also, there's going to be a video for Enough, featuring gym equipment and killer coke bottles. And purple eyelashes. And goofs. # Also, it was her birthday a month ago! And I forgot to say. *shamed face* Irrelevant but ridiculously cute link. Will spam thread with more links as soon as fresh news appears! *salutes*

Enough sounds alright, I'll probably like it when we get a studio version. It sounds a little rockier than some of the crap on My Winter Storm.

Heh, yes, when I should have been sleeping. I think she was too stunned at being covered in glitter to notice how shoddy it looked though. XD Awww. Well, put it on your "things to do in the long term future if the opporunity ever shifts its ass and presents itself" list then. *nod* I know Crysta gave up all hope of seeing her in Israel, but her concert there is tomorrowww... so we can bully her to post her pics here. *g*

Well, maybe one day, eventually, she'll come here, too. Nightwish did, earlier this year, because I guess they're suddenly all popular and accessible now that they sound pretty much the same as half a dozen other epic metal bands, but I think Tarja's still a bit too unknown on these shores.

One never knows. NW's sudden success might lead to people researching their older stuff, and there, *omg*, they discover the awsomeness that is Tarja's singing.

Haha, we can but hope. atm her promotional team does seem to be made of epic fail, but I guess it's early days for her yet. Hm, btw, random trivia I forgot to mention re the new album - she has composed another song. In Spanish. Also! The EP sort of thing coming out on the 1st December is seemingly made up of mostly remixes and the like, but it features the duet with Doro. >.> Details heeere: www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=107869

Well, maybe one day, eventually, she'll come here, too. Nightwish did, earlier this year, because I guess they're suddenly all popular and accessible now that they sound pretty much the same as half a dozen other epic metal bands, but I think Tarja's still a bit too unknown on these shores. This is possibly a bit off topic, but I have been out all night and have found the wish to play devil's advocate ;D You are of course entitled to dislike Anette, and criticise Nightwish, that's fine, though for my part I disagree that they sound like loads of other epic metal bands- to me, there's been no real change musically from Once, though I prefer DPP musically, slightly, I don't find that much between them in their musical styles. Yes, Anette has a very different voice from Tarja, but it takes more than just a voice to make a band. And whilst Tarja was one of the first, you don't have to look very far in the world of symphonic metal to find a band fronted by an operatic female vocalist, whether you like those vocalists as much as Tarja is down to the listener of course. That's not to say bands with a vocalist in Anette's style are unheard of in female fronted metal, either. Neither is unique any more. Anyways, I am rambling, moving on: Nightwish played Australia before, back in 2005 when Tarja was part of the band. Incidentally, the band enjoyed massive success with "Once", the album before DPP, it gained them a wider recognition, spawned Nemo, their highest selling single up until that point, and still one of their best known songs, and sold around a million copies, more than any of their other albums. Now, yes, Dark Passion Play has surpassed that in terms of sales, but whether you argue that it is a result of a more "accessible" vocalist or whether it is simply the natural progression that has followed all their albums- all have soldmore than their predecessor. Either way, my point is that Nightwish have been "popular and accessible" since before Anette joined the band, if we are to look at it in terms of sales and their touring schedule. ... And I have just realised that this post is not only pointless, but offtopic. No more punch for meeee... Happy belated Halloween, everyone! Also, on-topic, crysta, ye has been to your Tarja concert now, has ye not? How was it?

Okay, I stand corrected >.>. I will admit that I haven't even listened to DPP except for the singles that I've seen on youtube, though I did download it the other day and plan to. So I don't really know what I'm talking about, and was quite possibly just being bitchy.
And yes, I want to hear about Crysta's concert experience! ;D

The Islander is one of the singles, but tis still a lovely ballad, IMO. ... And this should be in the Nightwish topic, right? XD Sorry. I'm going to leave the keyboard alone and go to bed now. Or watch Jigoku Shoujo and then go to bed. Either way.

Argh, yeah, the Tarja/NW debate has really been done to death by now... but I disagree that neither are unique anymore... The band are still individualistic enough due to the music that always has, and always will, define them as Nightwish, just as the quality and timbre and whatever-it-is about Tarja's voice will always make her Tarja and not just some other metal singer. I don't think the countless symphonic metal bands they inspired together diminishes their own authenticity. And yeeees, Crysta went to the concert and met Tarja backstage, and came back bouncing and squeeing and skippy, but she's moving to her uni today and might not be able to tell us about it until she gets her connection set up.
