Well, Angela Lansbury did it without a wig and she was blonde; Rosalind Russell did in the 1962 movie and she had dark hair; i think Ethel Merman had dark hair; Bette Midler did it with her hair naturally red; and Patti LuPone just did it with dark hair. So I don' think there's actually ever been a set hair color.

oh, wow, I didn't know that. Obviously! I haven't seen but the Bette Midler version, and that was years ago. Thanks for clearing it up for me

No problem. I've been obsessing since I first saw the clip of Bernadette doing Rose's Turn at the Tonys and have looked into other versions and such for the sake of knowledge and comparison.

I've gone that far with "The Goodybye Girl" just recently. I can't find the orignal 1977 film though, which is driving me batty. There are very few love stories I actually like, but loved that one when I herd the soundtrack.

I haven't seen/heard that one yet. As for Gypsy, the character of Rose just fascinates me.

Albums I have trouble finding are Annie get your gun, which I really want! and Sunday In the park With George, which I love the title song performance for it on youtube.

I was lucky enough to find Annie Get Your Gun while out shopping back in August and I was able to rent the DVD of Sunday In The Park With George from Netflix. Bernadete is SOO adorable in it. Cutest thing ever.

I'm purchasing Sunday in the Park With George with Into the Woods, if I'm lucky I'm pretty sure I have found every version of Annie get your gun BUT Bernadette's.

I didn't know that Bernadette was in Gypsy. She'd have been fabulous. I've only ever seen the Bette Midler version.

She did it on broadway in 2003. I'm more than a little pissed that she didn't get the Tony.
