I love Tenth Man Down...the melody is so addicting. I was thinking today of dying my hair like Tarja's...it's just brown now...I might do it tomorrow...I've never changed my hair color...my brother will do it...he's got the cosmetology degree.

Cool! I like 10th Man Down, too. I never used to like Wilska's vocals, they really put me off "Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean" and "Pharoah Sails to Orion", but I liked the on 10MD, and now the other two songs are starting to grow on me.
Of course Nightwish deserve all this fuss, Minkaro! What a mentalist question. You should really buy one of their full length albums, rather than just having the EP. Knowing your musical tastes, I'd recommend one of the later albums (either "Wishmaster", "Century Child" or "Once") as these are slightly heavier than "Oceanborn" and AFF.

Indeed it is. Nightwish as a whole is also love.

I personally have a slight soft spot for it- particularly the ending.
I don't like White Night Fantasy though, and I find A Return to the Sea very boring.

Lots of times I don't like a song in the beginning, but after listening to it more it will grow on me. For instance I had only heard Planet Hell live and hated it...but then I downloaded it...and now I love it. Many other songs are like that for me. Creek Mary's Blood...I despised it! Now it's ok. I always loved Ghost Love Score, Dark Chest of Wonders, End of All Hope, She is My Sin....blah blah blah...on and on.

This isn't strictly relevant to Nightwish, but there isn't a topic for other metal bands and singers, so I shall put it in here. I made a desktop background of Liv Kristine Krull (for those of you who don't know who she is, she is the lead singer/ lyricist of Leaves' Eyes, and the former female vocalist of Theatre of Tragedy, who basically defined the whole Beauty and the Beast style vocals in gothic metal as a whole). I've been just slightly obsessed with her lately. The pictures are all taken from the video "Nymphetamine", which is the duet she did with Cradle of Filth- the guy wearing the black jacket is the CoF vocalist. Here's the video, if anyone wants to watch it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=f98fFdMvMo0

Not to sound weird or anything, but she reminds me of Miranda, at least in the pics in the top row.

Did everyone see how they updated the site with a deadline for demos? I suppose that means they've gotten some good ones or they wouldn't want to stop the search. This new girl better meet my approval or I'll be fuming!!

The site was updated with the news, pictures and video of the orchestra recordings. It seems by christmas all of it was done. So I suppose all that is left is keyboards and vocals. If the music is going to be this dramatic and heavy tarja should be singing it! Apparently there are some celtic-style songs too...yay. Bag pipes and everything lol. I hope the new album bombs so that they need to get tarja back. ;D I also don't want someone else singing the old songs that we're used to hearing tarja on.

This is just me, who got the Once: Special edition cd for Christmas (I didn't even know there WAS a special edition! It's so shiny! In a box! With bonus tracks on the cd! And the single of 'Wish I Had An Angel') omg shiny. I'm really, really loving this band. People who ask me what their music is like were stumping me for a while. Because it's not strictly metal, and one can't describe it as that. For a bit, I was trying to say 'it sounds like Evanesence without the emo', but lol that is such a bad description. Because it doesn't sound like Evanesence at all, except for the fact that it's a female-fronted metal band. I think I've come up with 'theatrical' - and that's what I love about it. I had it on on Christmas Day and muy uncle thought I was listening to 'high brow' music, and I love that. I love that it's so wonderfully gothic and sounds almost like musical theatre. I love the organs and the dramatic sounds and just... gah. Anyway, yes. Just needed to get that out.

Ooooh, what bonus songs are on your CD, Angela? My "Once" is the bog-standard normal edition, alas.
I have to say, Once isn't my favourite album, but for sheer orchestral hugeness, I can't think of an album that beats it.
