Well, if my memory and stalkerish obsession with all things Tarja and Nightwish-y serves me correctly, I have read in several places that Marcelo speaks no Finnish (well, I daresay he knows a few words, but not enough to converse with), and they communicate mostly in English and Spanish (so presumably Tarja must know some- they live in Argentina part of the time). I believe Tarja also knows some German, from studying classical singing in Germany. Very mutli-lingual.
Beauty of the Beast is definitely one of my favourite songs, and my favourite "long" NW track, though I am fond of Ghost Love Score, too (GLS beats BotB for sheer orchestral epic magnitude, but I prefer the darker, heavier style on BotB, overall). BTW, apparently on their next album, there will be a 14 minute long heavy song. Yayness.
As for their live tracks, my liking for them varies. PotO sounds better live, in my opinion, but then, Tarja does say she had a cold when recording that, which might explain it. I like the energy that's often present on live tracks- I LOVE the live version of "Wishmaster" on "Over the Hills and Far Away"- and occasionally songs I never listen to on the album sound good live (eg. The Siren), but sometimes the songs don't sound quite as clear. On some songs Tarja sounds great live, but on other songs she sounds a bit... off, if you like. Not bad, but not as good. Mostly I noticed that with the songs on End of An Era. Songs from Once sounded great, as did Kinslayer, and some others, but when she was singing some of the songs from the older albums, they didn't sound quite as good- possibly because she sang them less operatically than they appeared on the album- she sang some in a more "Once"-y style, like "Slaying the Dreamer" and "Over the Hills and Far Away". Either way, I'll listen to any NW song in reach!
