I'm with you there. Being non-religious has its advantages, particularly come Lent. I suppose I could try giving up watching Merlin all the time, but on balance, I think not!

Well, you're supposed to give up something that you like and maybe do too much or work on something like giving up a habit or trying to be nicer to siblings. I could never give up the computer just because I usually need it too much for school. Plus, my brother gave it up, so it's nice to finally be able to get on! I gave up soda and I'm working on getting rid of my horrid habit of chewing on the insides of my cheeks. The no-soda is going fine, it's the cheek-chewing that I still have issues with. I seriously think someday I'm going to have a hole straight through my cheeks just because I bite on them so much.

Ergh, I do that too. It can be a painful habit.
I wonder what the heck makes one start doing something like that?

the father of a friend once had surgery done in his mouth, and so he got anaesthesia for his cheek. when he came home, his wife had made a plum cake. halfway through eating it he said "This is a really good plumcake, but somehow it's tasting like blood." He had eaten half his cheek without noticing! (and as a vegetarian too!)

Ouch!
I can half imagine doing that, too. I remember trying to drink tea with a numb mouth. Funny for everyone else, but not me.

I think I do it because I have a friend whose entire family does it. And since I've known her since we were four, I may have caught it from there. That, or because I'm totally anal and when it's not right I bite it to make it better (smooth it out, whatever). I know, disgusting, but true.

Not gross. As I said, I do it too.
My grandmother used to admonish me for it. She had some insane idea that you could give yourself cancer from it. I recall her sitting there, one day, sucking on a cigarette, and glancing at me and catching me doing it.
Nana: *puff* Angela, stop that, you'll give yourself cancer!
Me: Um... ME?!
*facepalms from the irony*

LOL. I do that too... perhaps we are all catching it from this board? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! *runs from board* Oh, well, my cheeks will just have to survive it.
My mouth is quite strange apparently. According to my new dentist, I swallow strangely, and it's pushing my teeth forwards, and giving me a slight whistle whenever I speak. No-one else has ever noticed it... although people have always said I have a funny accent!

Yeah, and a few others. I just love when Ralph says "even my boogers are spicy!" when Marge pepper sprays him.
