Surprisingly, New Zealand is to be the first country to screen Merlins Apprentice. It is on TV2 on Sunday April 16th at 7:25pm. (do we have any Kiwi's on the board?). Hopefully other countries are not far behind There have been an awful lot of negative reviews of this miniseries, but it seems that most of them are resulting from the fact that part 2 'escaped' onto the internet, and downloaders believed it was the whole series - which would be very confusing, so it may not be as bad as is made out. However, my feeling is that if ever a sequel shouldn't have been made, it is this one. There must be something fundamentally wrong with it if it has gone straight to video in the USA without a broadcast, and its only going to serve to degrade the memory of the brilliance of the original 'Merlin'. For those interested, there are now a few screencaps from part 2 at Miranda Online now www.miranda-richardson.com/mrmerlinsapp-pics.htmlIts going to be interesting to see proper reviews after the New Zealand screening.

;DYep, apparently it's on Channel 4 at 12.00pm (with both parts combined) on 14 April 2006 (Easter Friday).

*hurries off to emigrate to New Zealand*
I agree that this sequel seems not really, well, what shall I say. A prequel would have offered more, but that is my personal opinion, being the Mab fanatic that I am.
Unforch, the dvd is not available in region code 2, and so I could not get it *sniff*, but the pics look really good. I loved the one where she was in the pool of water.

Love the pictures!
So, the UK gets one of the first airdates? Yay! Go us! I don't know whether it will be as good or not, but we can still keep that prequel idea going if not! ;D

Provided I have not been dragged away on holiday on the caravan somewhere that has no TV reception (which would be bad). Although, if that does happen, one of my friends says he's going to record it, as he quite enjoyed Merlin, so I can always ask to borrow it (aka. threaten his life, then steal it) afterwards.

Caravan holidays at this time of the year? *shiver* I don't know about your weather, but here, the heaps of hail have been lying around for two days before they melted.

Nice that the UK gets it first, still suprised about the rapid New Zealand screening (maybe its because Sam Neill is in it). No sign of it in Australia or US. Hopefully someone who can get Channel 4 will be able to give us a proper review (then I can decide whether its worth springing for the Region 1 DVD or wait for it to turn up in Oz...)

The USA screening has finally been announced. But its not until September 16th on Hallmark Channel. The 3 hrs will be screened in one hit, as with Channel 4.

Our weather isn't quite that bad! We haven't had hail for a while, anyway.
If I do watch it, I'll try and post a review up on the forum as soon as I can.

;DWell, it wasn't that bad, but it could have been better and condensing it into one 3 hour film probably wasn't the best of ideas as it's hardly compelling. It lacks the spark of the original and barely relates to it at all aside from the presence of Miranda and Sam Neill, but the special effects and sets were impressive enough. On the acting front, Sam and Miranda were hardly in evidence throughout but when they did appear they shined as brightly as ever although this wasn't Miranda's greatest performance. The lead characters were mostly dull and poorly acted, and everything got rather cheesy as the ending neared.
Like I say, not particularly bad but not particularly good either, although it was interesting enough. ;D Hope that helps.
