The film, a live-action fantasy that explores the origins of the evil fairy Maleficent and what led her to curse Princess Aurora in Disney's animated classic "Sleeping Beauty," is already set to star Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning.
Cranham (Hot Fuzz, Made in Dagenham) will play a human king with machinations against the world of fairies. Manville (Another Year) will play Fittle and Staunton (Vera Drake, Harry Potter films), Knotgrass, two pixies that guard Fanning's Aurora. Richardson (The Hours, Harry Potter films) is the fairy Queen Ulla and aunt to Maleficent and Riley (Control, On the Road) is Diaval, Maleficent's aide with the power to turn into a raven.

Hahaha I absolutely love that article, just for the legend bit!!!! XD Also for Imelda Staunton, Alice In Wonderland? Seriously? She's been in so many great films and they pick the one where she's only a voice!

Just thought I'd pop in here real quick because today I spotted Miranda's name on the cast list! I've been periodically checking on the Maleficent movie because there isn't enough Maleficent in Once Upon a Time, the show I'm currently obsessed with. *hugs Lana Parrilla, the magnificent evil queen* I love when Miranda's name pops up in unexpected places. This movie will be good, they've got lots of good actors on the list.
Definitely still a Miranda fan, I'm just deep in the throes of passion for Lana Parrilla at the moment.

You and me both my friend. I am so in Love with Lana! It's probably unhealthy how much I love her. But she is just so PERFECT!!!!! She has taken over my life these past two years. I agree with you about Maleficent though, she is not on the show nearly enough. And Kristin Bauer is fabulous, they really should made the most out of having her as part of the cast. I know she is probably busy with True Blood but she could have done at least one more episode!!! The one in this season where Maleficent "comes back" at least

Yeah, Maleficent came back as a dragon and then as a weird screaming zombie thing. I want Kristin Bauer, not special effects. I want to see more of the "frenemies" relationship between the Evil Queen and Maleficent. I watch True Blood too so I know how fabulous she is and she makes a great lesbian lol. There are so many fanfics where they mention Maleficent "taught" Regina about seducing women. yummy. Swan Queen all the way! ...except when Emma is being a douche-bag on the show just like Henry. It's just sad that, except for Robert Carlyle, all the other actors are a freaken joke. And I know some of them can act because I've seen them in other stuff, but the show's writers SUCK. Lana's performance is the only thing keeping this leaky boat afloat. She manages to make even shitty lines sound good.
Is it possible to have a Queen Regina and Queen Mab sex sandwich? Or conquer the galaxy together or something.... I might add in Damon Salvatore from the Vampire Diaries too.
TVD has such great writers and actors. I'm never going "WTF WAS THAT?" like I do when I watch OUaT.
There should be a football match between Team Evil Queen (Regina, Mab) and Team Wicked Imp (Rumpelstiltskin, Frik). Who would win? LOL

Me too! I wish we could have seen more scenes between Maleficent and Regina. I don't know why she would think she needed to punish Maleficent in the new land. She could have left her as a human with her memories and then Regina could have had a friend. Or even if she didn't want Maleficent to have her memories she still could have had a friend. Ohh I love Swan Queen too!!! Except often during season two I wanted to punch Emma in the face for being such a bitch to Regina. Same with Henry, he has been horrible to Regina for most of the season and it just breaks my heart. I agree with you that the writers suck though. I do like a lot of their writing and some of the stories are good, but there are so many things where I'm just like "WHY! I should have written this scene!!!!! Stupid Writers......" But ya I LOVE Robert Carlyle and Lana Parrilla's always fabulous acting! The rest of the cast is awsome too but like you said, sometimes it is hard to get past the writing I really like True Blood, I haven't started watching TVD yet but it is on my list. I just finished watching Charmed which I loved! I don't think I would want Mab and Regina together, but maybe Lady Van Tassel, I love her! I know you will probably hate me for saying this but Mab kind of irks me. I would love so much if she had Miranda's real voice!

My headcanon for Mab's voice is she used to have a really pretty voice, but as she lost her power she lost her maiden and mother aspects, and the only thing left was the crone aspect. Hence her strange voice.
Ya I know she said in interview she was thinking about Gollum when she started using that voice. Even tho its not pretty, its part of what makes her so bizarre/interesting lol.
Charmed is a good show. I feel like TVD writing is even better. Maybe because TVD has book material to draw on, but at the same time they don't really follow the books closely at all. And that actually doesn't bother people, that the TV-canon is different from book-canon, because both canons are soooo good. It's one of the only times I've seen where deviating from book-canon didn't receive a massive groan from the fans.
I like True Blood, but they always seem to be thinking "What's the most f'ed up thing I can do to gross people out?" I like Spartacus better because it has Lucy Lawless, John Hannah, and other really amazing actors. The way they phrase the English speech patterns to emulate Latin is amazing and cool sounding. And while they have gore/guts/sex, it feels like they are trying to be true to ancient Roman pagan society and history, not because they are just trying to gross the f** out of you.

Ohh that is a good way to think. Gotta love headcanon!! I can't wait to start watching TVD. What you said kind of reminds me of the Princess Diaries, the books and the movies are completely different yet fans seem to love them both. I can only speak for the movies but I really like them. That's true, it took me a long time to get through one season of True Blood, and usually I can watch a season of a tv show crazy fast. But there was only so much blood and vomit and guts I could handle
