I have read in many places that Miranda had given up smoking after being hypnotized, I believe this was around the year 1999. However many films I have seen her in since then she has been smoking, if the smoking does not have any relation to the story they don't normally get the character to smoke unless they do in real life, do you think she has started smoking again then? as the cigarettes she is smoking look far to realistic to be fake ones. I don't have anything against her smoking I'm just curious!
she doesn't smoke anymore, we never see her smoking, maybe she has the odd one or not at all, dunno. But the ones in films are either fake or she has the ones for the film and doesn't get addicted again x not sure
"I know some people think Im Difficult, sort of distant & cold. Sometimes Im simply scared. So Im missunderstood. Im actually shy, like most of the people, but Im willing to take chances".- Miranda Richardson.-

Sometimes she doesn't inhale the ones in her roles, which is smart so she doesn't get addicted. When it does look like she is smoking they could be fake cigarettes like Ali said. Non-smokers aren't usually required to smoke for a character.
Well I dunno if she does smoke now though I really dont think so but I can say that I used to watch this program and there was a woman who smoked really heavily and in real life she used to but she quit so before the show so she had these special cigarettes made that had nothing in them.

Often when an actor is required to smoke for a role, they user herbal cigarettes, which taste like ass but don't contain nicotine so are not addictive. Also with the inhaling, yeah. When you watch closely, a lot of actors don't inhale.

They're still bad for you. Even without nicotine and tar, breathing in something that is burning is bad for you. But if you have to smoke for a role, better to mostly not inhale herbal cigarettes than to get yourself addicted (or re-addicted) to nicotine.
