So this I just got from someone who knows the person who went to the DH2 screening:
"A spectator that went to the test screening in Chicago posted on their blog that Rita Skeeter was not scene in Part 2. "
(I even left in the original typo)
...now I'm miffed! ...she is also in none of the deleted scenes of pt1 that I've come across thus far.

Awwwwww! What was with the new outfit if she wasn't even in it? I was so hoping we'd get to see her in part 2

Such a pity. Is it too soon to hope for deleted scenes of part 2?

This really sucks, I am sad now! I wasn't going to read this post in case it was something about a scene she would be in and it would ruin the surprise, but now I am happy I read it! Thank you for letting us know. I really hope there is something on one of the DVDs!

I don't know if any of you have listened to that Max on Movies podcast from the other thread, but in it Miranda talks about how she came back for a new photoshoot of Rita, but when they did it they weren't sure where they were going with it or how they would use it. She said it was never going to be something big, those aren't the words she used but it is hard to quote what she said. If you can you should listen to the podcast, she talks about Harry Potter around 12:45. The interview starts at around 11:30.

I got it, but thanks. Maybe they will put the Rita scenes on the 2nd part Special Edition? I doubt it, but one can still dream.

I really hope they do!!! That would be so sad if they didn't. I doubt they will though if they never filmed anything, they probably wouldn't put the photoshoots on.

well I'm really surprised they bothered to put Rita skeeter on the back of that book in part 1. I mean, they didn't have to do that at all. I suppose it was just meant to be a tribute to hardcore fans because Rita only has scenes in books 4 and 5. She is merely mentioned in book7, never actually seen. We should have seen her in movie 5 if we were going to see her at all.
"The Goblet of Fire film omits all references to Skeeter being an animagus, and Hermione's later blackmailing of her. Subsequently, the character is omitted completely from the Order of the Phoenix film."
But I can understand why she got left out. She's a minor character and though the scene would probably have been pretty funny, they just don' t have the time to include everything and everyone in the movies.
So sadly there's no reason for her to be in Part II unless they make something new up, which is unlikely. But hell, maybe they're planning to throw all the old characters into the battle of hogwarts and we'll get to see everyone who was ever in the movies.

In the begining I was surprised that she was included as well, but now they have just brought my hopes up and then crushed them. Not nice! Oh well, if nothing happens at least we got a picture!!! That was more than I was hoping for after the Order of the Phoenix came out. And it is true about what you said about Rita being put on the back of the book. They didn't have to do that so it was nice of them. They do have to make up somehow for all of her lost scenes. It is probably no big deal to Harry Potter fans in general, but for Harry Potter fans who love Rita like we do it is a nice gesture.

After all they're making an in-canon reference to who wrote "The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore". I'm sure the fans appreciate anything that pays homage to the canon of the books.

I believe you have a point there, Arwen. In the 'Mike' Podcast she said that she was brought back for a day to actually record that back cover thing. Since they went through all the trouble of doing that, as well as the photo shoot & creating a completely new outfit for her, I can't understand why they would not include it in some way (at least on the DVD). The actress who plays Narcissa Malfoy said that they recorded three different endings with her, and she herself doesn't know which ones the ultimately chose. I will still go and watch it in the theatre as soon as it gets out, but I was hoping they would include the Rita scenes. (I'm such a fan girl, it's not funny anymore. I shall now slowly back away from the computer .)
