Thanks for posting!! She looks absolutely stunning! ;D
And I totally agree, now that I think about it, that I do love Helen, but her performance wasn't spectacular. Miranda's does look really amazing. I wish Miranda would get some further recognition, I am really glad she was nominated, but she deserved to win. In America we know who Helena is, Miranda is the one that is sadly underappreciated

She looked stunning. Does not look her age at all. I think she's one of those women who will be beautiful at any age.

I never got the impression she really cares about awards that much She just wants to be able to keep working I think HBC did deserve it... but so did Miranda And I definitely agree Miranda is a very under-appreciated actress I really hope she gets a fantastic role soon and finally gets the recognition she deserves

I haven't see any of the nominated films yet, so I can't judge. But when the camera moved to Miranda Richardson I was all like 'oooh, why can't they both win?'

Yeah I know right. I love them both and I wanted both of them to win! Sucks having your two fave actresses up for the same award!

To be fair, Miranda beat HBC to the same prize in the same category (Bafta Best Supporting Actress) in 1992 (Helena was nominated for Howards End, and Miranda for Damage and The Crying Game), and technically they're both even eighteen years later

Was she in howards end? I don't she was. Her only Oscar nom was for The wings of the dove.

Yeah, HBC was Helen Schlegel in Howards End, and her Bafta nom for Howards End was the first of four (The Wings of the Dove, Enid, The King's Speech).
But yeah, The Wings of the Dove was her first Oscar nom, while her Howards End co-star Vanessa Redgrave stole her slot alongside Miranda at the Oscars.

...wow, I'm really slow...it took me a little while before I realized what HBC was. lol!
I love and adore Helena and have for a long time and while I'm so happy that she's branching out from Tim Burton's characters, I still feel as though Miranda should have won. And I'm not even bias about this, because Miranda did a ton of research and, as all of her other characters, Barbara was a completely new one. While Helena is a good actress, I get a little annoyed when she talks about not doing any or very little research on her characters (like for Morgan Le Fey) and it seemed as though overall her Queen Elizabeth didn't really stand out.
Oh well...at least the award went to someone that I actually like and respect as an actor rather than to someone that I don't care about.
