Since we have a "what are you listening to?" thread, I thought this one would be a good one to have as well. Plus, it'd be a great way to get recommendations. So what is everybody reading at the moment? As for me, I finished Bastard Out of Carolina by Dorothy Allison a short while ago, and now I'm reading Nine Stories by J.D. Salinger.

Well, I've had it for about a year, but I still haven't gotten around to reading it. It's "The Day of Battle" by Rick Atkinson. It's a nonfiction book about WWII and the Italian parts of it. The first book was "An Army at Dawn" about the North African parts and it was great. He won the Pulitzer for it. I want to read this second one, but I always seem to forget or get lazy.

Lately, these threads make me so sad, because even the books I'm not reading for university, I kind of am reading for university. At the moment, my more leisured reads are the Aenaeide (sic?) and Les Misérables, which is rather awesome.

Les Misérables is great! I am currently reading 'Across the Wall' by Garth Nix for what must be the 30th time. It's a load of short stories by him including one about the Lady of the Lake from a certain film some of you might have heard of?

I am reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, hopefully I will be reading the Half Blood Prince by the end of the week, as I am trying to read them before the movie comes out! I am also sort of reading the 3rd book in the Mitford series. I also started The Royals and Pay it Forward. I love reading and have a ton of books started. There is also a large pile of books by my bed that I need to read!

I finished Nine Stories (finally) and I'm now reading Raise High the Roofbeam, Carpenters and Seymour: An Introduction by J.D. Salinger. (evidently I'm on a Salinger kick these days)

I'm still re-reading The Goblet of Fire I might have to skip it and the Order of the Phoenix but no biggie I guess. I've read them both many times over. I think I will be able to finish at least GOF and The Half Blood Prince though.

"The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini, summer homework for uni surprisingly I really like it and now I know a lot more about muslims and what happened in Afghanistan.
leisure reading is "Persistence of Memory" by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, her new book, one of my favorite vampire authors ever

The Six Wives of Henry VII, I think it is very interesting! I am such a nerd!! I am enjoying it, even though it reads like a history book!!!

I read 'Wicked' during the weekend and am now making plans to go see the musical while I can still get to see the awesome Willemijn Verkaik as Elphaba. Alas, this was the only real 'pleasure' book on the horizon; now it's back to Sueton and Vergil. Mind you, I still have that great Victor Hugo about the French Revolution lying around ...

Are you stuyding the classics?? I need to read some Sallust and really HATE it lol. I'm reading Puffball by Fay Weldon. It's quite different from the film and much better imo. Except for Manda's part, cause in the book Mabs in fat and pretty ugly lol.
