;D There's some very good news today as The Leaky Cauldron (which is down at the moment but the information can be read at this link: the-dailypotter.blogspot.com/2009/05/miranda-richardson-will-reprise-her.html) is reporting that a credible source has informed them Miranda is in negotations to return as Rita Skeeter in the final two Harry Potter films, Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2. Although this is still technically a rumour, TLC were in fact the website that broke the news Miranda had won the role in the first place, so if anyone is to be believed then it is them. UpdateThe original article can now be seen at www.the-leaky-cauldron.org.

I'm really hoping that she will be in it! I have all the seven books and they left me wondering why they left her part out! I thought her character was going to be so hateful instead I enjoyed it because Miranda gave such an interesting performance!

*keeps eyes closed*
Do you think if I don't look until the movie is out, the rumour won't disappear in a puff of smoke and she'll really be in it?

Give her the job or you'll have angry fangirls knocking on the filmmakers door.

This may sound bad, but while I liked her as Rita, I don't really care if she's in it or not. The fact is, I'm a bigger HP fan than a Miranda one, and Rita doesn't really do much in Hallows anyway. Why waste time, especially if they might have to cut other things to give her a scene?

Haha I'd rather of had a Rita Skeeter movie than any amount of HP ones.

Well, Kathleen, I think it might have to do with bringing the book to life, y'know? A large part of Harry's mental state in DH - his resentment and questions about Dumbledore - come from the book, and while snippets from the book work in text, they wouldn't work so well in film. I'd been wondering how they were going to get that in there, and if it involves having Miranda back as Rita, woo!
Also, I don't think they're going to leave much out. They're milking DH with two different films. They're going to have a lot of time to fill, especially for a book that is mostly camping and then a battle at the end. There was far more action if GoF/OOTP, and they made those books into single films. I hope they get creative with DH, because watching H/Hr/R sitting in a tent for hours would really not be all that exciting.
