The filmmakers were keen to cast Miranda Richardson early on in the casting process. "We were hoping to attract her to the film. She’s so accomplished that we just thought she would be so perfect," says O'Sullivan. "She read the script and seemed to really connect to the Duchess of Kent who, in many ways is the opposite of Miranda. Miranda is very sweet and outspoken, whereas the Duchess was a bit cold and reserved, especially with Victoria. We are all amazed by the chemistry between Emily and Miranda, there are times when it is genuinely uncomfortable watching them in a scene, as the scenes are so intense and real. It is a joy to watch." Found this in production notes thought it was really good.

That's awesome!
And heh, yeah. I think they would have good chemistry together. They don't really get a scene together in Gideon's Daughter, but you get a definite sense of connection between them when Gideon wakes up at the end and you know they've been chilling without him.
God, I want to see this film! *flail*

It's not coming out here until AFTER you guys get it onn DVD. I'll probably buy it on Amazon because I can't stand waiting.
I know, I know, I could probably find it on a torrent, but I only like downloading things that have been ripped from DVD. I'd rather wait months than watch something I'm really looking forward to in bad quality.

That's fair enough! It's worth the wait though, in my opinion, I think it is an excellent movie.

I saw it myself not so long ago, it's a lovely film. Miranda wasn't in it that much, I mean its focusing mainly on the love story of Albert and Victoria. However when Miranda is in it, very powerful, and yes you would sometimes feel uncomfortable watching scenes between Duchess and Victoria. To those who are having to wait, just keep sitting tight, will be worth it!

Oh, I have no doubt that Young Victoria is worth the wait! I just wish I didn't have to!! I do wish Miranda was a more primary charater, but I think I will like the movie a great deal just the same! I love history and it sounds like a wonderful story! I cannot wait to see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's now 11:18pm where I am and I just watched it in the cinema at 13:40 lol ! ;D Miranda is super! I wish there was more of her. My favourite scene was when Jim Broadbent scolded her in front of everybody because I was waiting to see her reaction. I don't mind watching it again! ;D

The wedding scene was too short! I like Miranda's costume at the waltz but didn't get much chance to see her in it. She looks much nicer with her hair down. Another favourite scene was when Emily receives a letter from Miranda and cries when she reads it. I felt so sad for Miranda.
