I second that completely! She's had an awful life! The least someone could do would be to show her a little kindness! Yeah !! So I've decided they all suck !! (Suck is my new word btw) hehe I agree with everything youve said about Mary... i've written another mary fan fic. i just need to post it. back on topic: when i was little miranda as mrs tweedy scared the shit out of me and i hated chicken run because of how scared i was of her. the way she says 'mr tweeedy,' still sends shivers down my spine I seen your fic and commented *shudders* that film is to scary to think about.

lol yeah chicken run is like a horror movie for kids...
as to mary von tassal as with alot of miranda's so called evil characters... alot of the time some extra backstory or script would actually make her character almost the protagonist. for example mab in merlin, mary, queen elspeth in snow white, helena de wend to an extent

It's is the horror film for beings of all age, shape, size or form. *Nods fiercely*
The "evil" characters to an extent are evil but other than that give as good as they get. (I'm going by Mary and Mab here)

yeah i still got freaked out in chicken run when i watched it this year
but with Mab one could argue she started off alright but around the second half went evil.
and mary would have been normal if sleepy hollow residents hadn't been bastards to her family

Yes we should not speak it's name. *scurrys and hides*
I can understand where Mab is coming from a little, I remember when I was small and I first discovered death I went through the whole phase of never wanting to die, but when I finally realised no matter what that wouldn't be possible I just wanted to be remembered forever so I wouldn't really die. Obviously the circumstances Mab had were alot different and I eventually grew out of it.
Yeah I totally agree they brought that on themselves.

Annette Claus what movie are you referring to when you say its like a scary movie... soz but im lost? Oops, sorry lol I should have explained myself. Pretty much what Queen Elspeth said; I was trying to say that sometimes movies are like scary movies, but they aren't actually scary movies. What I mean is that the first time you watch a movie it usually has a different eeffect on you than it would if you were watching it for the tenth time or something like that. Like how scary movies aren't as scary as they were the first time you watched it. I haven't been on in a while, I was reading through all the stuff you guys said about Mab and Lady Van Tassel. It is exactly what I think about it, they are only "evil" because of all the horrible things that have happened to them. Espescially in Lady Van Tassel's case.

I have a few movies I really didn't like that was in, but just watched them for her. Merlin's Apprentice definitely!!!! I also agree with the animated The King and I!!!!!!!!!!!! That was so horrible and stupid! I was complaining the whole way through, but watched it all for Miranda! I also really didn't like Empire of the Sun!! I was so mad when she died and I still had like another 30 minutes or more of the movie left!!!!!!!!!

Mab was just trying to save her people, what else was she suppose to do? She had to do all she did to surivive. Lady Van Tassel was a perfectly good character throughout the whole movie, it is just in the end that she really becomes evil. If those people would have been nice to her family she would have lived a perfectly kind life and never done anything so awful. Although, I suppose all people who do evil would not have doen so if the circumstances would have been different. Elspeth would not have been evil if she would have looked liek everyone else and would have been accepted. Maybe even if her brother would not have given her beauty she would have not been as horrible to everyone. Helena is misunderstood and needs help, she truly needs help and she will be less crazy. Although I suppose that in the show they say she doesn't need help she needs love and maybe that will help her. All of these people would not have been so horrible and evil if their story would have been different. Well there is my rant for today! I really did run wild with that!! Hope I made some sense in all I said!

Ohhh I love Empire of the Sun. I don't really mind if her character dies in a film, or if she only has a tiny part. I see being a fan as a chance to see all sorts of movies I wouldn't have watched otherwise, and appreciate them. My pet hate is when people say they fast forward through a film to get to her bits. It's irrational, because it doesn't affect me in the slightest, but it's like people saying they read the ending of a book first.
Also, I find this conversation about bad guys being justified really interesting. I agree on a lot of points, but I do think a lot of these characters are pretty nasty pieces of work. Having tough lives doesn't make killing people justified. It does make interesting characters, however, and I love most of them *because* they're bad, not because they are actually nice people who were pushed into bad lives.

I'm just saying that its interesting how alot of manda evil characters have a reason to be evil unlike the evil characters of helena bonham carter eg bellatrix lestrange, mrs lovett who are just insane. im mainly referring to mab here... as discussed elsewhere was she really any worse than merlin... at least up until she kills morgan le fay? and really if Mab was the narrator she would be the protagonist up until the second half of the movie. and finally if YOU were going to fade away into nothing and you were NOT human like Mab and had an underdeveloped sense of right and wrong wouldn't you try to do everything to survive?
