I read the books, but the films made the situation really worse^^ Now are at my school these horrible girls with "Team Edward T-Shirts" takling about nothing else than Twilight, and I don't like Robert Pattinson, sorry^^ The first book was really nice, but in the next books Bella really got on my nerves: uuh, I on't know who I love, and I hurt them, but I can't do anything against it, and I am so afraid, everyone wants to kill me... Come one! the only one I really like is Alice. But in the films she doesn't look like I imagined her, so.. .

I do not know how interesting the book is. I had it once because someone gave it to me ("Twilight"), but before I could read any page, I had to throw it away... I saw the film, yes, 'cause my best friend lovesssssss all the books and she's deeply in love with Rob Pattinson. After I saw it, and what I really hate about these kind of films is they're only comercial films ¬¬ The actors are not good enough at playing, imho... Bella is so... inexpressive... Mostly poeple like the film beacuse of Rob Pattison. And well, he's very handsome... ;D However, he was better as Cedric *nods*

I only read/watch Twilight because of Alice. I started reading them because my one friend is obsessed with it and bought it for me for my birthday. Alice in the movies looks exactly like my art teacher, which made me and my friends excited a lot during the film! Other then that though, I could live without Twilight. The first and second books were pretty good, espescially the second because I loved the setting. Well, the end setting. That was cool! The late-middle to the end is the best part.

Personally, I kind of like Twilight. It most certainly isn't in the same league as Harry Potter, but it isn't completley horrible. My biggest problem with it is the three main characters: Bella, Edward, and Jacob. Bella is a whiny and codependant Mary Sue who can't blow her nose without her vampire boyfriend around. Edward is a moody sparkling control freak who watches a girl sleep (and removes the gas from said girl's car so she can't see her best friend). Jacob is a whiny crybaby who claims he loves Bella but can't stand to see her happy with Edward. AND I hate Kristen Stewart and Taylor Launter in the movie. Stewart really needs some facial expressions and Launter needs to stop taking off his shirt every ten minutes (we get it, you've got ab's). Rob Pattinson was okay, I didn't mind him.
I did, however, love almost all the other characters. Alice was probably my favorite, because she was so sweet and adorable, yet not afraid to beat the crap out of those who threaten her family. The rest of the Cullens are great too, even cynical Rosalie. I am also completley in love with the Volturi, especially Jane (who reminds me of Bellatrix Lestrange). The wolves are okay, but it's a little creepy that they fall in love with toddlers. Heck, I even thought Victoria was cool.
Bookwise, I liked the first and the third, but hated the second and the fourth. Like others have said, the fourth was like a really long and bad fanfiction. And in the second, I had just about enough of Bella's whining and her treating her friends so horribly. At least one and three had action.
So there were things I liked about Twilight, and things that drove me crazy, but I still like it okay. But it would've been loads better if Bella had more of a backbone and Edward and Jacob weren't so abusive.
P.S. Did you know Miranda likes Twilight? She'd Team Edward.

elspeth, you summed it up very well. That's exactly how I feel too. I think Twilight is ok and I can enjoy it, but it is certainly nothing to get excited over. I've read tons of vampire novels etc. before Twilight ever existed and there is nothing new or interesting about Stephanie Meyers' writing and like you said, it's just plain bad at times. I haven't seen the new movie yet, but I plan to in a few weeks. I've heard it's absolute crap from several people already lol, but I'll go see it anyway. ARE YOU SERIOUS? Miranda likes Twilight? ?!!!! I don't understand. Twilight is like for prepubescent girls who haven't read any other vampire novel other than Twilight. I don't see what Miranda would like about it. It just seems like, at her age, silly stuff like this wouldn't interest her because there's better literature out there. I don't know whether to be appalled or amused.

I know. Twilight's okay, but give me plain old Dracula over Edward any day.
And if you want a really bad vampire series, read Vampire Kisses by Ellen Schreiber. No offense, if anyone here may like it, but I thought it was horrible. The protagonist was even more passive than Bella, the writing was too simplistic, the dialogue was laughable, and there was virtually no real plot whatsoever. At least the vampires didn't sparkle.
As for Miranda liking it . . . well, I stumbled across an interview where she said she did so, yeah, I know, a bit shocking. But hey, I guess everyone has their guilty pleasures.
Oh and I completely agree with their being nothing real special about Stephenie Meyer's work. Vampire stories are a dime a dozen, especially today. And it pales when compared to say . . . True Blood, Interview with a Vampire, or even Vampire Diaries.

I agree with the 2 of you : it's an ok story and it can get interesting but I don't think it deserves all the attention it got ! And I don't think Kirsten Stewart is a good actress , she can't really express emotions =/ I really liked Interview with a Vampire and Vampire diaries is a great serie and the actors are better there then in Twilight ^^ I would have never thought Miranda liked Twilight ! I find it amusing and yes a bit shocking , do you remember where you saw this interview ? I'd like to see it if I can =)

True Blood, Interview, and Vampire Diaries are all great shows. I was also thinking about books too. There's plenty of vampire novels and series that are fantastic such as Amelia Atwater-Rhodes books or Cirque du Freak. But at the same time there's so many bad, uncreative series too such as House of Night. Twilight is actually better than House of Night and that's saying something.

Better than Twilight? That IS saying something. What exactly are the Amelia Atwater-Rhodes books about involving vampires. I'm always up for new good reads.
Angel, I didn't see it in a video, but I found a written interview about a movie (don't remember which, but it was fairly recent) and she mentioned that she did. A quicker way to find it is by typing both 'Miranda Richardson' and 'Twilight' in the search engine and you should find it (I had to look it up in order to get a second source, since I was so shocked) Oh and regarding Kristen Stewart, if you want a laugh, look up 'the moods of Emma Watson and Kristen Stewart and you'll find this hilarious picture making fun of Stewarts lack of facial expresssions.

no no no Twilight IS BETTER than House of Night. House of Night is horrible. It makes Twilight look great. I like the plot idea of House of Night, but it written like bad fanfiction with elementary school grammar. I got through several of the books but I've finally given up on it. Her writing refuses to improve. She's just slapping crap together to make money. Amelia Atwater-Rhodes has written many stand-alone novels about vampires. Her first book was published when she was only 14 years old. Each book has a different set of characters and story, but they are all set in the same universe so its not unusual for a major character in one book to suddenly appear as a minor character in another book and vice-versa. She also has a shape-shifter series called The Kiesha'ra which is just as brilliant as her vampire novels. This series does happen chronologically from book to book but she uses a different character's point of view for each book. The shape-shifters inhabit the same universe as her vampires, but while the two species do cross paths on occasion it's usually not a major plot point. Her universe also includes several other species such as the immortal Triste witches and the mortal Macht witches. www.randomhouse.com/features/atwaterrhodes/bookshelf.htmI think the best way to read all the books is in the order she wrote them because naturally that effects her writing even if they are mostly stand-alone vampire novels of the same universe. The order that she wrote them is: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amelia_Atwater-Rhodes#PublicationsThe compilations are the same books just gathered together in one big volume. I love her writing because it is so original and beautiful. Her books don't get the attention they deserve. Amelia's books never feel like they were written to make money. She writes them because she has a passion for this created universe of hers and it is a vivid amazing world that she describes.

Okay, I'll check them out. She was fourteen? That IS impressive.
I really hate it when author's just write to make money. My mom reads this series by Janet Evanovich about a bounty hunter, and apparently she publishes them too quickly and they just keep getting worse and worse. That's also what Vampire Kisses feels like to me. Like some really bad fanfics just slapped together to make money. Good thing there are the authors out there who don't.

That's what I did and I found it ^^ thanks . I love that picture ! xD and that is unfortunately true . I think the only moods she does in the movies are "depressed" and "bored".

Isn't it funny? Sad, but true. There are like a ton of hilarious Twilight photos, but that was probably my personal favorite. OH, and don't forget slightly scared, which consists of just breathing healthy. xD

There are some hilarious ones. Some of the funniest ones involve Harry Potter, if that helps. By any chance have you read The Hunger Games? It involves a love triangle too, but it is much more action packed and Katniss Everdeen is a much superior protagonist to Bella Swan. At least in my opinion. Plus I think Suzanne Collins is a better writer than Stephenie Meyer.
